Great fun, usual Centennial Hall sound issues
by Ron B on 6/30/25Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5I love this series of Nederlander national touring Broadway shows, cast was great, direction and choreography fun. Fabulous band (onstage). We saw the vacation swing Joe Caskey in the Young Neil lead role and he was very good as well. The sound is as always problematic in the ancient huge cavernous theater (BofA Centennial Hall), the music is fine but the spoken word is not. Sat in the 8th row because I anticipated that, but ever there it's easy to miss some of the dialogue. The hall and Arizona Arts kick the can and say it's the responsibility of the touring company but I imagine it's some of both, and that the biggest culprit is the venue itself. I've written to both Nederlander and Arizona Arts. Show was great, it's a shame it can't be presented perfectly.
