About

After releasing a series of acclaimed mixtapes over the previous three years, rapper A$AP Rocky dropped his first official album in 2013, titled Long.Live.A$AP. His already-primed fanbase quickly took to the album, which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart. Fans also snapped up tickets as he hit the tour trail hard to support the set, performing concerts at theaters and large clubs with members of his A$AP Mob collective, a group of rappers, producers and others who joined forces in 2007 due to their shared sense of music, art and style. Born Rakim Mayers (named after the Eric B. & Rakim rapper) in Harlem, A$AP Rocky's smooth, slow flow is more heavily influenced by Southern rappers like UGK and Devin the Dude than by New York acts. He began rapping at age eight, and in his late teens turned to the skill as a way out of the lifestyle that had led to the murder of his brother and landed his father in prison. Now that he's a star in his own right and the ringleader of one of hip-hop's most influential collectives, it appears he's found the way.

  • A$AP shouldn't scream

by Anonymous on 10/26/12Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 1 out of 5

There was way too much bass on the microphone. Could barely understand any of the lyrics, especially because A$AP screamed all of his songs. His music is great because of his flow and the down tempo beats. Didn't translate well at all to an hour of yelling and jumping. Danny Brown was good, his voice carried well. E40 and Too Short basically stole the show in my opinion during their surprise guest set.

  • Danny Brown

by lolzque on 10/17/12Beaumont Club - Kansas CityRating: 3 out of 5

i would only recommend seeing Danny Brown and then leaving -- i had the VIP package where i got to meet him and they moved the meet & greet until after the show so i ended up having to stay for Schoolboy Q and A$AP. they were both absolutely terrible and were just yelling into the mic and being lame for 2 hours. meanwhile, Danny Brown's performance was fricken spot-on and incredible

  • See ASAP Rocky, ASAP!!!!!

Was an awesome show, everyone gave us 100%. I really wish the place was sold out for them but I was surprised to see how many midwesterners knew about these cats. I hope to see more hiphop acts in KCMO. its so lame here, they made the city & i light up.

Best night, Danny Brown was amazing and same with Schoolboy Q. A$AP Rocky put on one of the best performances I've ever seen, he is so unbelievably talented.

    by shooshoo1 on 10/8/12Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

i've been waiting for this show since June and let me tell you, it was in-freaking-credible. The whole A$AP Mob had incredible energy and the venue was so alive. I pushed my way to the very front and THAT'S where you need to be. A$AP, you did the damn thing. Oh, and be ready for him to crowd surf ;)

  • asap puts on a show...for 45 minutes

by Anonymous on 10/2/12MassMutual Center - SpringfieldRating: 3 out of 5

Not only were all of the openers done within an hour and a half of the doors opening, but the entire asap mob performance was only 45 minutes long. That being said, Rocky and his crew are great performers. Also, mass mutual center sucks, saw security stop 20+ people for smoking while the performers themselves blazed.

  • It's not what you'd expect

by QnsRudeGal on 10/2/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

The show was ok. What do you expect for $30 tickets. Got there and the line was crazy...wrapped around a Manhattan block even though we bought tickets 2 months ago. We missed Danny Brown's show altogether. Rocky had a lot of energy and have good stage presence but I was disappointed that the ASAP Mop took over most of the show. I really expected to hear most songs from the LongLiveAsap Album but that the show's title right...Nope, wrong instead I heard many other that were unfamiliar and later realize they were from the ASAP Mob's mix tape. In the end, we had a good time smoking, drinking and listening to our ASAP Rocky fav's all at the same damn time!!!

  • Craziest Show

by ASAPBRI on 9/30/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

First off, this is not for the faint of heart. They crowd surf, throw beer , and water, and themselves lol. BUT IT'S WORTH IT. They are so enthusiastic, they interact with the crowd instead of acting high siddity, and they give a good show. Lots of surprise guests, lots of performing, lots of energy. They perform many songs so you don't feel like your favorite song wasn't chosen. The most amazing part is that after the show, they come outside and converse and enjoy their supporters. And not just hi and bye. They hug, laugh, take pictures, and actually are interested in who give their money to support them. ASAP rocky doesn't act like he's better than anybody, they all act like they are human like us. They thank us constantly for supporting their shows and that is exactly why their humbleness and talent will take them to the top. EXCELLENT

  • Disappointing

by Djeserkare on 9/30/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 1 out of 5

I was really excited for this show, and ended up being hugely let down. I love A$AP Rocky's recorded music: amazing beats, amazing production, amazing flow. But this concert sounded terrible, and his music was nearly unrecognizable. The show started with an intriguing (though vague) theme, with an intro about rebellion and freedom, but quickly disintegrated into boring, rhetorical politics. By the time I left, it had become clear that this event was A$AP stroking his own ego and not caring at all about the fans; not caring about being an entertainer. This went beyond swagger, and into the megalomania category but without solid execution to back it up. I like a good high-energy hip hop show, but there is no reason why 7 people on the stage each need a mic (and they weren't afraid to use them). Maybe the stage monitors weren't loud enough or something, but they were yelling over each other throughout the entire performance. This was one of the few shows I've been to in NYC where I can truly say I regret having gone.

  • Livest concert I've been to

by Frannifeliz on 9/30/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Danny brown was introduced to me that day. He has awesome stage presence. As does schoolboy Q. And then last but not least ASAP came out and the whole mob, it was all too live and I would do it all over again

  • by Breaux on 9/30/12Roseland Ballroom - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Really good performers kept the crown involved and hype
