Washington Commanders History

The Washington Commanders were founded as the Boston Braves in 1932 and are one of the original members of the NFL's Eastern Division.

In 1937, they moved to Washington, where they won their first game in D.C. against the New York Giants, and have since become one of the most recognizable professional sports franchises in history. They have 32 members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and one recipient of the Walter Payton NFL Man of The Year Award — Darrell Green. The team has won five league championship titles (1937, 1942, 1982, 1987, and 1991), five conference championships, 15 division championships, and have made 25 playoff appearances.

Poor seats. Pot smoke. Terrible parking logisitics

by Darb on 1/11/23FedExField - Landover

The seats were not that great and the view was not exactly as depicted when I purchased the tickets. Had to deal with the smell of marijuana smoke throughout the entire game. The stadium should have a no smoking policy. The stadium parking situation is awful with only a few arteries into and out of the stadium. Had to sit for 45 minutes before even leaving our parking lot.

    FedEx Field Section 223

by David on 1/11/23FedExField - Landover

Section 223 is very obstructed. Very poor view of the field, a column in the center blocks much of the field, and the overhang obstructs everything beyond the hash mark. Also, there is no view of either scoreboard, so it is impossible to keep up with down, distance, time remaining or yard markers. It was a horrible experience.

Seats were great for the price.

Washington Commanders game fans and people in general were great considering I'm a Browns fan!

    Worst. Stadium. Ever.

    by Jay E on 1/4/23FedExField - Landover

The stadium and game day experience match the owner, awful. Fedex field is a terrible place to visit, especially if you are a Washington fan. The better view is from your couch, even if your only device to stream from is an outdated iphone 6 with a cracked screen.

    Cold out here

by Musa Warren on 12/25/22FedExField - Landover

Everything was great, food was good, and the band that performed was jamming. My team won and I was happy.

    Disappointed

    by TA15 on 12/22/22FedExField - Landover

I found it extremely frustrating to wait in line over 30 minutes, just for the scanners to be “down” before getting in. The people at the gate told us to go to the next gate, same thing. It was over an hour process to get into the stadium, and we missed the 1st quarter. It was disappointing to spend good money on tickets, just to miss 1/4 of the game because of a mishap with the ticketing.

Had a great time at the game

by Stone on 12/22/22FedExField - Landover

Overall fun time with fam and friends. Did some light tailgating as well. First time at that stadium (military and have not live in DC for a long time) and although it is definitely Not RFK where I attended lots of games when I worked there, the vibe was good!

    Good time!

by Freddy on 12/21/22FedExField - Landover

Although the seats were in an obstructed viewing area, we had a good time. Some Commanders fans were a little over the top but the experience was one to remember. Next time I select tickets I will do a better job in researching views from seats.

    Not great

    by Osiris C on 12/21/22FedExField - Landover

Getting to the stadium was a nightmare. The stadium experience as a whole is lacking. Move it to Ashburn, VA!

Terrible seats that should not even be sold.

by Skins 4 Life on 12/21/22FedExField - Landover

Can't see the ball in the air and the TV's don't even show the score. Only in field feed. Had to use my phone to watch the game and see what happened after it was over in front of me.

AMERICAN COMMERCIALISM AT ITS BEST (AND WORST)

by JOHNNY on 10/26/22FedExField - Landover

So, I am primarily a college football fan. This is because my perception of college sports is more positive than pro sports. Shall we say, purer? Upon the insistence of my son, I went to the Commanders game (with my son). I was curious how pro sports these days would be presented "live". I had not been to any pro event since the pandemic era began - and that was a baseball game. Anyway, my first impression was WOW! This is so cool. Tailgaters showing their team pride, singing the fight songs, truly enjoying the pre-game atmosphere. It was awesome. Upon arriving at the stadium, I was impressed by the extensive security measured taken. We arrived there early and got a chance to see warm-ups. My son recognized several players, which was neat. Then, when purchasing food at the vendor(s), I got a shock. $ 8 fries. Really? Anyway, we sat down for the first quarter and realized quickly that some fans around us were already boozed up. I was thinking that given the high beer prices, they must have downed their brew in the parking lot. OK, so far, no big deal. The game went on, and it was fun to watch these guys play. Halftime came around and it was boring. The tributes to past "warriors" was interesting - but otherwise, ho hum. After spending big $$$, I thought maybe something special was planned, but to no avail. Then, the second half roared, and the crowd was into it. And, so apparently, was the crowd's booze level. Now, don't get me wrong - I'm an older frat dude with lots of fan experience. But, at the pro level, I was expecting a little more decorum. This is where my real disappointment begins. Had I wanted to be among crazy people at a football game, I could have saved $$$ and had the same experience at a different venue. My conclusion - next time I will take my old frat buddies with me and get loaded in the parking lot - all the while leaving my family at home, safe from this over-hyped experience people call America's past-time.

by Fabio From Italy on 10/26/22FedExField - Landover

Great experience, simplicity in purchasing. First experience in an unforgettable American sporting event, also due to the fact that the purchase of the ticket was very simple and immediate from an other country. THANKS
