About

The Pretenders in Concert

The Pretenders cross the bridge between punk, new wave and pop music like no other band, with genre-defining songs like "I'll Stand By You," "Back On The Chain Gang" and "Don't Get Me Wrong." The band has sold over 25 million albums and founder & leader Chrissie Hynde is one of contemporary music's greatest songwriters. Chrissie's 2015 memoir Reckless: My Life As a Pretender, was hailed by the New York Times upon its release as "honest and distinctive... a love letter to rock and roll." After delivering 2016's unflinchingly head-strong Alone album (produced by the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach), the Pretenders continue to tour worldwide.

The Pretenders on Tour

The Pretenders are set for an extensive North American tour in 2020 with Journey to feature all new production and hits from start to finish in the 60+ date tour. Fans can expect to hear iconic classics from The Pretenders and Journey.

    Pretenders were Brilliant

by econ2day on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

I saw the Pretenders on March 10, my birthday, 2017 in Bossier City LA opening for Stevie Nicks and vowed if I could ever see them headline, I would want to see them again. Travelled from Texas to St. Louis MO for their show at the Peabody Opera House and the show did not disappoint. The only complaint is that the audience was not allowed to take pictures, audio, or video. That's cool, but I think the band could have taken a few minutes after the show and walked from one side of the stage to other and let the fans get a photo with their phones. Besides that, the show was brilliant. Would go see them again in a heartbeat.

    Pretenders ruled

by Mojos1 on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

Great show at the Stiefel Theater . Chrissie and the band rocked for over 90 minutes of classic favorites and new material. Crowd stood for the entire show. Not bad for us 50 plussers. First time seeing this band whom I always wanted to see. Glad they came to St Louis. They looked like they enjoyed their stay here.

    Chrissy Hynde and the Pretenders

by OzarkCamper on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

They should have put Chrissy's mic up a little higher-she still has a tremendous voice. The band was loud and she was soft. Otherwise, outstanding concert. She came on stage and litterally blew us away. Still has a tremendous vocal range and an excellent stage presence.

by rick632018 on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

1 of the best ,most enjoyable concerts I've been to in awhile. Chrissie Hynde and the band knocked it out of the park. The crowd (at least on the floor) was standing, cheering and dancing the whole show.

Pretenders reek of Rock and Roll

by eyecyme on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

Chrissie was amazing. I didn't think I could love her any more than I already did. She's every bit the rock goddess that made me wear my bangs in my face all through high school.

    Chrissy in fine voice

by Giliosis on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

I last saw the Pretenders in 1981. I have always been a fan. Chrissy''s voice was the highlight of the night. Other than trying to sell a couple of newer tunes that are a little too introspective, she sounded better then ever. Her lead guitar player was also in fine form. The entire band, even the crew members with the cow-bells collectively put on a top notch show. I strongly recommend catching them on tour.

awesome performance by a legendary band

by DonnyA044 on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

The band sounded great. They were very energetic. They engaged worth the audience throughout the show. The crowd was on it feet for most of the show. Two encore and they played all the hits. My City was Gone and Hymn to Her were highlights imo. Great show. Will see them again.

Chrissie Hynde Is Real Deal, No Pretender

by iObserver on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

At 66, Chrissie Hynde looks great, sounds great and still knows how to rock. The Pretenders put on an awesome show that featured a blend of classics (“Middle of the Road,” City Was Gone,” “Kid,” “Brass In Pocket,” etc.), deep cuts (“Break Up the Concrete,” “Cuban Slide,” “Bad Boys Get Spanked” and “Thumbelina”) and a handful of numbers from their new album “Alone” produced by Dan Auerbach. Chrissie was in excellent voice, especially on “I’ll Stand by You!” As for the set list, you can’t please everyone and I really missed “Message of Love.” I like the new album a lot and a number of the live selections worked. That said, I would have cut a few of the new tracks, particularly the dreary “I Hate Myself” and “Death is Not Enough” in favor of the awesome “Never Be Together” and the album single “Holy Commotion.” Nevertheless it was a great show and the crowd stood for most of it, just as Hynde and band stood out. When it comes to rock royalty Hyde is no pretender...she’s the real deal.

Not middle of the road !

by Mercstar on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

I would definitely recommend this show. I'm not a big fan of The Pretenders, this was my first time seeing them live, but I would go again. The show never dragged, but like most there were some highs and lows. One thing for sure, Chrissie Hynde owned the stage. Her voice is strong as ever and her interaction with the audience helps make the show. It doesn't hurt either that she has got to be one of the sexiest 66 year olds on the planet. Martin Chambers was rock solid on drums throughout.

    Great show

by KeithMN on 7/21/18Stifel Theatre - St. Louis

Chrissie's still got it! She was in fine voice with a crack band behind her. Her new lead guitarist was amazing - he also opened the show with his other group, the Rails. Great mix of old and new songs kept the crowd engaged for the whole show.

    pretenders a no

by Anonymous on 7/20/18Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

Very disappointed w/ show. Very few hits sang. No brass in pocket, no I'll stand by you. Concert very short. I payed top dollar for my seat, it wasn't worth it. Chrissy complained about people wanting to take her picture outside in public and at the concert. Well then don't be a rock star!!! The Taft theatre was sooo hot inside everyone was miserable.
