About

The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most influential alt-rock bands of the ’90s. Billy Corgan formed the band in 1988 with guitarist James Iha. In the 1990s alone, the band released classic albums like the four-time platinum Siamese Dream (1993) — which was ranked by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest albums of all time — and the double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), which debuted at No.1 on Billboard 200 and produced hit singles like “1979” and “Tonight, Tonight.” The Smashing Pumpkins have toured with acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N’ Roses. They’ve made guest appearances on The Simpsons, won two GRAMMY Awards and have sold over 30 million albums.

    terrible sound, great performance

by Greg on 9/17/23Canadian Tire Centre - Ottawa

Very bad sound for the Smashing Pumpkins, specifically. The two opening bands sounded great, but when the Pumpkins came on the sound was very muddy, with only the vocals distinguishable. Guitar/drums/bass were simply a wall of mush. Very loud, but could barely tell what song was being played. Acoustic/non-distorted songs sounded great, but once the distortion kicked in, it was pretty terrible. My seats were 2nd level off to stage right, so I'm not sure if those seats have especially bad sound. I asked my friend if I was missing something, and he agreed the sound was surprisingly terrible. I was very surprised by the poor sound of the venue; I go to a fair amount of concerts and always have realistic expectations that it will be loud but not especially great quality. For this show, I would said most of the pumpkins was unlistenable. Too bad, as the set list and performance were top notch, and I've been a huge pumpkins fans for many years.

    Good show

by BJ on 9/14/23Jiffy Lube Live - Bristow

Billy is trying to be enigmatic, but also relatable with a couple stories. His voice has aged. They mixed up the songs. Wish there were even more from Siamese Dream

    All the Nostalgia Feels!

by Amber on 9/14/23PNC PAVILION - Cincinnati

I won 2 tickets from a radio station for this concert and my husband and I had a blast! We're 80's born, 90's raised and The Smashing Pumpkins are one of our fave nostalgia bands who did not disappoint! Billy Corgan sounded exactly the same! Great concert.

    Great Pumpkins Pit experience!

by Sully on 9/14/23Ruoff Music Center - Noblesville

The Smashing Pumpkins have always been a band that I loved. I was glad to be able to take my son and my niece to the concert with GA Pit tickets so they could experience them up close. They put on a great show and played up to the audience real well. Their setlist was a great mix of songs all throughout their career, with plenty of new songs mixed in with a ton of classics.

    Excellent Concert!

by JD on 9/14/23FirstBank Amphitheater - Franklin

Fantastic concert! All bands were outstanding, the venue was beautiful. The sound was very good. The food was not good, but everything else was the best. Smashing Pumpkins did an amazing job performaing the songs that everyone wanted to hear. The band was engaged with the audience and seemed genuinely appreciative of the fans. We would defintiely go to another SP concert.

Great Band Glad Most of the Group is Back!

by Groadie Roadie on 9/13/23Ruoff Music Center - Noblesville

I love smashing pumpkins and am glad most of the original lineup is back together. The stage lighting was amazing and billy sounded great! The band seemed a little drowned out by his vocals but still amazing. Can't wait to see them again.

Show was awesome, Venue not so much

by Frequent Flyer on 9/13/23Ruoff Music Center - Noblesville

From the opener to the main event, the show was awesome. Smashing Pumpkins gave a great performance and engaged the crowd. The venue (Rouff Mortgage) was subpar. Restroom facilities were nasty!!! Merch lines moved quickly but when I got home I found that I was given all the wrong sizes.

    Not as good in person

by Chris on 9/13/23Ruoff Music Center - Noblesville

I was shocked at how bad his voice was. But after thinking about it for a couple days realize that I probably shouldn't have been it is a 30-year-old song. I I just started going to concerts in 34 year old. Now I'm starting to realize I probably should have went in my 20. All the other bands that I keep on rotation in my playlist are going to be bad in person I assume. The instruments were on point it was just the singer that ruined it for me spent like 400 bucks not worth it

    Don't pass up your chance

by Robert on 9/13/23Ruoff Music Center - Noblesville

I was completely surprised by Billy Corgan's performance. I remember seeing SP on the MTV music awards in the early 90's when they performed "Disarm"and I thought it was horrible. A friend of mine said that they were great in concert recently so I decided to give them a chance, and I'm glad I did. Whatever happened back on the MTV awards was clearly a fluke - Billy sounded great when he sang and he's still able to scream like he does on the records. He interacted with the crowd a lot and really seemed to be having a great time on stage, as did everybody. Musically the band sounds great as well - none of them have lost their step. My only critique of the concert is that I wish they would have played a bit more from Siva (I'm not sure they played anything off of it) and Siamese Dream instead of the two covers (Once in a Lifetime and some weird Toil and Trouble witchy cover) that left me scratching my head. Also there was a strange bit of wrestling that happened towards the end (and yes, I know he owns a wrestling league or something) but it didn't ruin the show by any means, it just seemed out of place. Otherwise this would have gotten 5 stars. I saw this show at Ruoff amphitheater, which is how I would highly recommend seeing them. Outdoor acoustics are SO much better than arenas, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much had it been inside somewhere. The Smashing Pumpkins are still amazing though, so get out and see them next time they come around! I hope they continue touring for many more years.

    Great concert!

by AD on 9/12/23Ruoff Music Center - Noblesville

It's been 15 years since I've seen the Smashing Pumpkins live and they did NOT disappoint! I didn't realize it was the last show for their current tour and they really seemed to put out an effort to make the show very enjoyable. I was VERY pleased to see and hear them perform a great show and would be pleased to see them again in the near future! The band did a wonderful job and I thought it was well worth the cost of admission!!
