About

THE SECRET CHIEFS 3 IN CONCERT:

Experimental instrumental rock group Secret Chiefs 3 has been wowing audiences with their far-flung influences and musical virtuosity for two decades. From traditional Persian and Indian music to surf rock and death metal, no style is off-limits to the nimble fingers of these voracious performers. The band's roster is constantly changing but founder and guitarist Trey Spruance remains a constant, leading the band through their multifarious sets with the gentle certainty of a spiritual guide. Whether they're conjuring up the East with "Vajra" or evoking film music with "The Owl in Daylight", Secret Chiefs 3 always take fans on a masterfully executed and far-reaching musical journey on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Multi-instrumentalist Trey Spruance (Mr. Bungle, Faith No More) formed Secret Chiefs 3 in 1995 as an outlet for his diverse musical tastes and ever-evolving repertoire of guitar playing styles. The band's name derives from the loosely defined concept of the Secret Chiefs, an order of transcendent cosmic authorities thought by some spiritual groups to be the guiding force behind the world's moral and cosmic order. The band's 1996 debut album was titled First Grand Constitution and Bylaws, and it received praise from critics for its mysterious vibe and wildly diverse collection of styles. The band's sound continued to evolve with each subsequent album as their rotating lineup introduced new players and ideas into the mix. Now with more than ten albums under their belt, the band brings plenty of material and experience with them as they hit the road for another must-see tour.

    it was pretty dissapointing

by katia61 on 10/22/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

when i bought ticket few months before show there wasn't any word about opening act in the ad. the openers info showed up just short time before day of show. doors were open at 8:30 and main show started at 10:55. i could watch it for less than hour because i had to catch the last train to go home. it took me more than hour and half one way to get to the concert and then leave early because of such a delay. the band was great but it was organized pretty bad at least for me.
