by reluctant critic on 3/6/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - DurhamSeats were very uncomfortable. Acting was good but not great. I prefer the old version of Peter Pan to the updated version.
This high-flying musical has been thrilling audiences of all ages for close to 70 years and is now being brought back to life in a new adaptation by celebrated playwright Larissa FastHorse, directed by Emmy Award-winner Lonny Price and choreography by Lorin Latarro. PETER PAN embraces the child in us all so go on a journey from the second star to the right and straight on 'til morning - your entire family will be Hooked!
Seats were very uncomfortable. Acting was good but not great. I prefer the old version of Peter Pan to the updated version.
Pleasant performance but did not engage the audience. Children grew restless by intermission. Delighted to see many young boys in attendance.
Acting, singing, choreography and set design, lighting, etc, just amazingly fantastic! Sorry if I missed any others… costuming, and the great workers we never see!
Peter Pan is one of my all time favorites, and this performance did not disappoint!! The effects were amazing, as were all of the performers!! Would love to see it again!
The choreography and music to this revamp and modernization of a traditional childrens musical is creative and very well done by a talented staff of actors and musicians with NETworks.
Excellent performance and performers. So impressed with the actors who played Michael and John. There voices were loud and clear and the executed their lines perfectly. Actually, this is true of the entire cast! Do not miss this show.
Loved this show when I was a kid, love this show now and my daughter loved it, too! The cast was absolutely amazing!
I LOVED the play ..kept smiling until the last scene with older Wemdy. Sniff I did not like the program with a picture on p 2 of a very weird man in panties and high heels. Did not like that 111 year old grandson had to see it.
I left at intermission along with half of the audience because the actors singing, dancing and acting were not of the quality I have seen in other shows .
We recently saw the current iteration of Peter Pan at the Hippodrome in Baltimore and it was a fantastic theater experience. The combination of comedy with nostalgia was accented with amazing technical feats of 'flying.' All the performers were spot-on and the audience was rapt from the first scene. The cast seemed young, but they were all up to their tasks and it was a memorable performance. It deserves to go to Broadway.
Great adaptation with awesome cast in a cool theater.
A great modern adaptation of a timeless story. Great acting, great and clever set design. Great sound. In the upper balcony but could hear it all clearly. Even after 45 years, I could remember the lyrics after I heard the first line of the songs. A great experience and reminder of bygone memories. Thanks for bringing this back!
With the exception of Captain Cook and of the orchestra, this was less than high school caliber, at Broadway prices.
His production is an absolute delight. The updated script and score gets us out of the theater in a little over two hours and is absolute fun from very beginning. The actor playing Peter is exceptional and with very minor quibbles I say, as Sondheim said, it's a hit! Bravo Price, Lighthorse & Green. But... maybe they should be British...
