New York Red Bulls History

Born as the New York/New Jersey MetroStars, the New York Red Bulls have been with Major League Soccer from the inaugural season in 1996. Some of the biggest names in soccer have worn the colors of the MetroStars/Red Bulls, including the team's first player Tab Ramos, who doubled as the league’s first-ever signee. Also among New York alumni are U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team players Tony Meola, Tim Howard, Jozy Altidore, Claudio Reyna, and Clint Mathis. The Red Bulls have also boasted international talent from the likes of German great Lothar Matthäus in 2000, and French superstar Thierry Henry, who played 135 matches with the team to close out his playing career in 2014.

New York reached its first MLS Cup finals match in 2008 but fell to the Columbus Crew 3-1. The franchise hit a hot streak between 2010 to 2018 when the Red Bulls finished atop the Eastern Conference five times. Within that period, New York claimed three Supporters’ Shields and advanced to their second U.S. Open Cup final in 2017, where they were defeated by Sporting Kansas City, 2-1. Individually, striker Bradley Wright-Phillips earned Golden Boots in 2014 and 2016, while Luis Robles was awarded Goalkeeper of the Year in 2015.

    Good experience

    by NJRoyal on 10/29/18Westfield

Being a Brit living in NJ, I feel drawn to my local MSL team. The Red Bull stadium experience is good with great sight lines and American "razmattaz". The stadium is easy to get to and get in and the club works hard to gather new support. The soccer is entertaining, its not the highest quality, but attractive to watch nonetheless. I do wish more was done for children though - reduced ticket prices would bring it into line with what I'm used to as $35 for a 6 year old is crazy. I am used to family memberships with discounted tickets for this - the kids are the fans of tomorrow and what NJRB should be building their fan base upon in the long term.

    Audi Seating

by Anonymous on 10/4/18Red Bull Arena - Harrison

Recommend trying the Audi Club Seats at least once. VIP Entrance. You can come two hours before the crowds and leave one hour after the crowds. All you can eat (alcohol excluded). Asked several employees about seating and entrance and this was the only shortfall. Told by staff to use the general entrance which took away from the VIP experience. Luckily some of the staff is attentive because once they realized their mistake they made sure to correct it. Had someone not caught the mistake this would have been a one star experience. Tickets were scanned at general entrance and if scanned again at VIP the tickets would not work. iIf you pay VIP make sure to locate the red carpet VIP entrance.

    Man On!

by Tee927 on 10/3/18Red Bull Arena - Harrison

A great medium-sized stadium which is perfect for the local soccer team (we'll skip over the fact that they're playing in New Jersey but call themselves 'New York'). And the Red Bulls' supporter's section is contagious with their endless supply of energy throughout the match. Driving/parking can be a nightmare closer to the stadium but all things considered: the events held here are always pretty smooth and the staff are friendly and doing their best.

    RED BULLS THE BEST

by MKSR1 on 8/29/18Red Bull Arena - Harrison

THIS WAS THE BEST SOCCER MATCH THAT I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME. THE ENERGY LEVEL WAS AT A HIGH PEAK FOR BOTH TEAMS. NEITHER TEAM BACKED DOWN AND BOTH TEAMS PLAYED WELL ENOUGH TO WIN THE GAME. THE WHOLE PRE-GAME AND AFTER GAME LIGHT SHOW AND FIREWORKS WAS TOP NOTCH. I LOVE THE RED BULLS AND WILL BE AT THE ARENA MANY MORE TIMES AS THEY PUSH TOWARD THE MLS CUP. IT COULD BE THE YEAR.

    Forgettable

by Chapin69 on 8/29/18Red Bull Arena - Harrison

My first time, and perhaps my last one to watch a soccer match, at least from the MLS, unless the teams in general, and the league try to improve, and give us the fans a reason to come back. A dull match, painful to watch, and to top it all off, fans moving out of their seats back and forth to the food stands. Why ? I guess the half time break isn't large enough to buy food , that customers feel the need to interrupt you from watching whatever is being presented on the field at all times. With all that said, I must add that the organization to get in and out of the stadium, and parking lots was pleasantly easy, which I greatly appreciate cause I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

    Game night out!

by Zipa on 8/8/18Red Bull Arena - Harrison

The game was great!!! I dont like the walkway to and from parking lot and especially leaving parking lot after a game. Very disorganized and time consuming. Stadium is nice, food options are pretty poor (all fast food ).

    Daddy/Daughter Red Bulls night

by MrTox on 7/24/18Red Bull Arena - Harrison

Took my daughter to our first Red Bulls game. Parking looked overpriced so we drove up from the shore, parked in Newark, and took the path 1 stop to Harrison. My daughter is 10 and the walk from the Path to the stadium wasn't too bad. The venue was fantastic. Stadium staff was fantastic. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. I bought my tickets through ticketmaster and regret buying them so far in advance. The night of the game there were plenty of cheaper tickers available via stubhub or the secondary market. The Red Bulls won 2-0 and we had a great time. We spent under 20 bucks on food. It rained during the game and we stayed dry in the stadium but got soaked back during our walk back to the path. It was a great experience for us though and we can't wait to get to another game.

    Red Bulls Arena

by ASB01 on 5/8/18Red Bull Arena - Harrison

Excellent venue for watching football matches. Sightlines are spectacular. Concourses are tight and food and beverage choices weren't inspiring. Easy access on PATH train.
