    Gorgeous music, ugly sweaters

by JW on 12/9/23The Anthem - Washington

What terrific way to ignite our holiday spirits. Our group tapped toes to NSO's magnificent concert and admired the hideous reindeer, flashing lights and jarring colors of the audience's outfits.

Excellent Program, Could Be Slightly Price Adjusted

by MagicallySpoopy on 12/9/23The Anthem - Washington

This was an excellent experience that truly put me in the holiday mood. The selections were truly iconic, the entire experience was buoyed with joyful interstitials from the conductor, and the venue provided specialty cocktails and a really great variety of food to accommodate a lovely evening. Something that I think was a little sad about the event was the grand amount of empty floor seating. Because of the vast array of empty space, there was a deadness in the air that sapped some of the holiday spirit from the evening. I think it would be useful for Anthem and NSO to reach out to community members, retirement homes in the area, or area schools to fill those seats.

    Amazing

by Music lover on 12/9/23The Anthem - Washington

This is my first time attending the NSO Ugly Sweater concert but I can say it’s going to be an annual event for me from now on. The musical arrangements were brilliant. A truly enjoyable experience, see you next year!

Mozart and Devorkc Was the Best

by Robin on 2/7/23The Anthem - Washington

We loved the Symphony part of the program… we were not expecting to sit and listen to the players of Ukraine…. We were not happy and felt we were suckered into listening to them before the program we came to see… All in All, we loved it!!!

    Interesting

by Joedirt on 2/6/23The Anthem - Washington

We have been wanting to see the anthem and this seemed like a good opportunity. It was the coldest day in a long time and you felt it waiting to get inside in that long long line. Why? Inside nice concert place no lines for drinks or bathrooms until the end. The Ukrainian folk group was fun but unexpected. NSO was very good as you would expect but seemed very short.

    Too much propaganda

by Arabzene on 2/6/23The Anthem - Washington

It is one thing to have a Ukrainian folk group play as an opening act, it is another to have them propagandize music and spend so much time trying to manipulate the audience into supporting by talking about the children. The US govt has already sent $100 billion of our tax money to the Ukrainian government, I don't want to hear propaganda for one side of this horrible war when we go to listen to classical music. Did they really have to get a whole hour before the main performance? The NSO has a group of incredibly talented musicians; they should get to perform for most of the evening when they are billed as the main act. Finally, the conductor should not have talked so much and should not have broken up the first piece multiple times to tell us how much we are going to enjoy their performance!

    Life Changing!

by Jade on 2/6/23The Anthem - Washington

This show reminded me of why I need music to keep me going. The beauty of this orchestra is something I cant explain. Perfection doesnt seem like a good enough word to describe this amazing experience.

NSO at the Anthem? Say less

by Zig on 12/9/22The Anthem - Washington

We just found our new holiday tradition! The Anthem at the Wharf is a great venue for the NSO to present itself in a more approachable atmosphere. And really have fun showing off their skills! And boy do they have them in spades. And the Anthem is just a spectacular event space to see a show of almost any kind in. Not a bad seat in the house and such hospitality and kindness shown by the staff there. We can’t wait for next year’s performance!
