An elite and down to earth experience

    by D on 10/27/21The Anthem - Washington

I loved listening to Tchaikovsky's 5th symphony in the atmosphere of the Anthem. I go to the Kennedy Center usually to listen to the NSO, but the atmosphere at the Anthem was great, relaxed, and enjoyable - even if the acoustics are not necessarily the same. The NSO felt more accessible, especially that we got seats very close to the stage for a good price. The opening songs by the Hot Club of Baltimore was unexpected and so welcome, already making the crowd feel at ease.

This is always a fun holiday event

by KimK on 12/14/19The Anthem - Washington

The NSO always puts on such a fun performance. It is lovely to hear time-cherished holiday songs in both traditional and differently/newly composed formats. The a cappella group was a nice addition this year.

    Excellent concert

    by D. B. on 10/31/19The Anthem - Washington

Best concert I have been to, to take the stuffiness out of classical music. As a chamber music player I am delighted to find people cheering classical music. Thy didn't condescend either. Well played and organized.

    Amazing NSO Performance

by Kat on 10/31/19The Anthem - Washington

This performance was such a delight. The opener was a funky, symphony group called the AFree Symphony from Howard University and it set the bar high for the evening. With wonderful renditions of Fly Me To The Moon and a Beatles meadly, the group was captivating. Since it was "casual" night at the NSO, the musicians were all dressed in street clothes and added to the ambiance of fun, relaxing, enjoyment. They performed a few pieces prior to their show titler An American in Paris and they were all great performances (Sorceror's Apprentice was one of my favorites). Overall, wonderful performances in an incredible venue!
