The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow, takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver's chances of discovering the true love of a family. Celebrate the holidays with one of the most beloved family musicals of all time – featuring "Food, Glorious Food" and "As Long as He Needs Me."
As a first time seeing a professional musical (as opposed to one at a school), Oliver! was very enjoyable. It was particularly interesting to see how the actors presented to all sides of the audience int the theatre in the round.
Wonderful show start to finish ! The part of Nancy portrayed by Lucy Godinez literally is a true stand out! Oliver is spot on and perfectly on pitch!
Our group of 6 had ages 8 through 84 in it and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
The 8 yr old who played Oliver stole the show! He was fabulous. The entire cast was great
This was one of the best performances I have seen at Lincolnshire. The young actors were fantastic and the actress that played Nancy was terrific. What a voice!
This play has it all: excellent music, superb actors. I took my 10-year old grandson to see it. The boys who played the part of orphans under Fagin's supervision were very talented. Fagin is my favorite. I read the synopsis of the Charles Dicken's "Oliver Twist" to my grandson so that he could more easily follow the story as it moves quickly. Wonderful music, choreography, staging and creativity using an intimate theater in the round. I noticed there were people of all ages. Most enjoyable.
Great performance. Comfortable seating and temperature. Lead singer who played Nancy has a beautiful yet powerful voice. Young actors Oliver (Kai) and the Artful Dodger (Patrick) were skilled and are great actors.
We are in complete agreement with Chris Jones, reviewer for the Chicago Tribune. The cast and production of Oliver at Marriott Lincolnshire are outstanding and enhanced by the casting of real children (not teens) in children's roles. Their voices are great, performances are earnest and energy level high. The adult soloists, especially the actress in the role of "Nancy" are also gifted and seasoned, lending polish and professionalism. Dance choreography keeps everything moving well. Enjoy!
I'm so glad I went...I was involved in this play in high school...it was great hearing all the songs again...the acting was fantastic...I would highly recommend it.
