About

Lyle Lovett in Concert

A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums over three decades. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of Americana, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. Whether touring as a ‘Duo’ or with his ‘Acoustic Group’ or ‘The Large Band’, Lovett’s live performances show not only the breadth of this Texas legend’s deep talents, but also the diversity of his influences, making him one of the most compelling and captivating musicians in popular music. Since his self-titled debut in 1986, Lyle Lovett has evolved into one of music’s most vibrant and iconic performers. Among his many accolades, besides the four Grammy Awards, he was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was named Texas State Musician. His works, rich and eclectic, are some of the most beloved of any living artist working today.

    Sadly disappointed

by Kingston on 5/15/24Ulster Performing Arts Center - Kingston

We were disconcerted to find that Mr Lovett's singing voice was worrisomly bad. Their "conversation"was pretty inane and while Lisa Loeb's singing and playing was pleasant enough, she could not salvage things by herself. It was an effort to stay until the end and, as much as we wanted to go out and support live music in Kingston, we ended up feeling a little snookered by the whole thing.

I wish there had been more music

by Roger on 5/14/24Ulster Performing Arts Center - Kingston

I’ve seen Lyle Lovette perform several times before and loved each show. He’s amazing. This time however, his energy was low, his voice cracked a lot when he sang and whole words seemed to be skipped over ( the sound system didn’t help). The “ conversation” with Lisa Loeb was uninspired, mundane.

    Lyle and Lisa

by masciantoni on 5/10/24The Wilbur - Boston

The pairing of Lisa Loeb with Lyle Lovett at their performance in Boston the other night turned out brilliantly. Not that Lyle Lovett needs anyone to balance him out there was Lisa Loeb doing just that. Kind of felt like you were listening to an old time radio show with the storytelling between songs.

    What happened to his voice?

by Mary Ann on 3/27/24The Magnolia - El Cajon

I enjoyed the songs, his engaging conversation, and the phenomenal caliber of the musicians. However, Mr, Lovett's voice was ragged and barely recognizable. Was his voice overextended after this leg of his tour? Hard to know.

    Fantastic concert

by Bea on 3/27/24The Magnolia - El Cajon

I had never seen Lyle Lovett in concert. I was on Row J, which is close to the stage and he and his acoustic band were incredible. I love the way he talked to the audience throughout the concert and also the way he highlighted the career and friendship he has with the four members of his acoustic group. I like the Magnolia cause it’s not huge, very personal. It’s easy to get to and park. For my first time, seeing Lyle Lovett, I found a great musician and performer, one of a kind.
