Kansas in Concert
With a legendary career spanning more than four decades, KANSAS has firmly established itself as one of America's iconic classic rock bands. This "garage band" from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner, and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide.
Composing a catalogue that includes fifteen studio albums and five live albums, KANSAS has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of KANSAS), one platinum live album (Two for the Show), and two one million-selling gold singles, ‘Carry On Wayward Son' and ‘Dust in the Wind.' KANSAS appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the ‘70's and ‘80's and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. ‘Carry On Wayward Son' continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and ‘Dust In the Wind' has been played on the radio more than three million times!
2016 marked the release of "The Prelude Implicit," KANSAS's fifteenth studio album. The wide-ranging progressive rock album was released on InsideOut Music, and marked the band's first studio album release in 16 years.
Throughout 2016-2017, the band celebrated both the release of "The Prelude Implicit" and the anniversary of breakout album "Leftoverture" with the highly successful KANSAS: Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. That tour was released in 2017 as a live album, "Leftoverture Live & Beyond."
The band, which is currently comprised of keyboardist Tom Brislin, original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist/vocalist Billy Greer, vocalist/keyboardist Ronnie Platt, violinist/guitarist David Ragsdale, guitarist Zak Rizvi, and original guitarist Richard Williams. KANSAS continues to perform in front of large and enthusiastic audiences around the world.
Along with constant touring, KANSAS continues to remain a fixture of Classic Rock radio. The band has reached a whole new audience through their unmistakable presence on the popular video games Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and through their songs' inclusion in various television shows such as ‘Supernatural,' and ‘South Park,' and with films ‘Old School,' and ‘Anchorman.'
Band sounded tight! Excellent show...impressive musicians.
I’d seen Kansas six or seven years ago or so and it was OK… But for some reason this time it was exceptionally great. What a great intimate venue at the Tillis center and what spot on performance as far as I’m concerned. Always been a fan… And still am
Great voices and guitar playing theater has good acoustics
The concert was awesome After all these years the band still sounds great
The Kansas 50 year anniversary tour is one of their best. I’ve seen them 10 times since 1978 and this set list was very comprehensive. . The venue was excellent as was the acoustics. Pete Mancini played in the atrium before the show and was very entertaining. All in all a great evening.
I was not happy at all. They had a security guy put a chair up against the stage facing out right in front of me then there were three photographers right next to him so I had a wall of people right in front of me and I could not see the band, it was a horrible experience and I was completely totally disappointed And dissatisfied I paid way too much money for The privilege of having a great seat only to have my view blocked
Band was on point, music was tight, talent was awesome, vocals were amazing!!!
These guys are such incredible musicians! A whole different level of musicianship that a lot of people don’t get or understand. (The ones who think that “dust in the wind“ is a great song.) Even though they only have one original member, they were on fire. Afterwards, talking to the band, I asked how they remember all those parts. Ronny answered, “I’ve been wondering the same thing myself!” I also told them that I can’t believe that some people still put them in the same category as journey and foreigner. They are so far above and beyond those pop bands. More like ELP and Yes. They kind of silently agreed.
One of the best shows I have ever seen! Amazing musicians, incredible songwriting, absolute perfection on stage!
Truly enjoyed seeing Kansas. They sounded amazing. And the Palace Theatre is a gem!
