I am slightly biased, having seen Donny Osmond in the role of Joseph, and it does allow me to provide a comparison. The production itself was visually appealing. Orchestra sounded great. Both Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young have great pitch control of their voices and project their voices well, and although both have great range - especially Diana - they both have a "thin" quality to their tones. Although I saw Donny many years ago, he had a rich, booming quality to his voice that Ace does not have. An example was Close Every Door, which in the Donny version absolutely blew away the house at the end of the first act; Ace's version was nice, but not powerful or moving. I don't want to take anything away from Ace, and if you haven't seen Donny perform it, you wouldn't know the difference, but having seen it done so well, it was a little underwhelming. Otherwise, Ace's acting was genuine and enjoyable, as was his singing.
Diana was an excellent Narrator, and the chemistry between real-life husband (Ace) and wife (Diana) was obvious and wonderful.
The supporting cast was very strong, especially the brothers. Simeon and Reuben were very believable and funny. Reuben was great in One More Angel in Heaven, while Simeon stole the show in Those Canaan Days. The Pharaoh got many laughs with his Elvis impersonation. Jacob (Joseph's father) was well-played.
Joseph Megamix was a little slow to get the audience involved, slower than I would have expected for the end of the show.
Definitely a play worth seeing with this cast. It was funny, touching, and moved quickly.
