About

JESSICA HERNANDEZ & THE DELTAS IN CONCERT:

Rock and roll bombshell Jessica Hernandez has made a name for herself with her soulful voice and a retro-inspired sound that  pays homage to Motown legends and  '60s girl group pop. Hernandez puts on one heck of a live show, singing to the rafters while her band the Deltas -- a group of formally trained jazz musicians -- keeps pace with dazzling energy and virtuosity. Her confidence and swagger as she tears through hook-filled anthems like "Caught Up" and "Demons" belie her relative newcomer status, giving her a timeless quality that signals big things to come. Ticket buyers lucky enough to catch Hernandez and the Deltas working their magic on tour will be getting in on a good thing early, and they'll leave the show with more than a few stories for the memory books.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Detroit-born Jessica Hernandez began performing at an early age, singing in choir during childhood and acting in plays and musicals in high school. After a brief stint studying music and design at Columbia College Chicago, she returned to the Motor City and began penning her own songs. Before long she was performing around town, and in the late '00s she formed the Deltas for a show at the city's Dally in the Alley festival. The group made their recording debut later that year with the EP Live at the Magic Bag, following up a year later with the EP Weird Looking Women in Too Many Clothes. Hernandez's powerful voice and the Delta's nostalgia-heavy sound resonated with fans, drawing the group out for extensive touring that included showcases at SXSW and Bonnaroo. In 2013 they released the critically acclaimed Demons EP, and in 2014 they made their highly anticipated album debut with Secret Evil. The album was a massive critical success, receiving praise for its sophisticated songwriting, stellar production, and Hernandez's larger-than-life voice. Hernandez and company responded accordingly, delivering a string of jaw-dropping performances in support of the album that have fans eagerly awaiting the group's next round of shows.

    December 5, show

by detroitfan01 on 12/8/15Saint Andrews Hall - Detroit

The band is great they put on an awesome show, the soundtech however was terrible, the lead singer, poor girl had to scream to be heard at times, at times it sounded better. This is the second time i've seen this band and will defitnitely see them again as they are have incedible music, sound, stage presence and are an all around awesome band one of my favorites. Not sure if it was the venue or the bands soundperson but that needs to get fixed.

    Jessica Rocks!

by PaulWayne on 10/4/13Great Scott - Allston

Jessica and the band totally rocked Boston! The performance was amazing. She's an incredibly versatile artist, going from singing to guitar to keyboard and even a large drum. Her real strength, however, is her amazing, powerful, nuanced voice. It completely captivated me. The rest of the band was great too, especially the trombone player. I love that so much of their music incorporates awesome horn work. Can't wait to see the band again!
