Raised on the Bakersfield honky tonk of Buck Owens and traditional country like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, Dwight Yoakam has created more than a dozen studio albums of his own self-described hillbilly music over nearly four decades. On his 2012 collection, “3 Pears,” the Kentucky-born performer reached out to Kid Rock and Ashley Monroe of Pistol Annies for co-writing help on a couple songs, while Beck co-produced the successful set.
Ticket buyers know a slew of Yoakam singles when they head to his concerts — from the chart-topping “Guitars Cadillacs” from the similarly-titled 1986 debut and “I Sang Dixie” off of 1988’s “Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room” to 1993’s “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere.” And when he’s not on the tour bus canvassing the nation, the singer/songwriter may be on a movie set. His acting credits include critically acclaimed roles as an abusive boyfriend in “Sling Blade” and a psychopath killer in “Panic Room.”
Great show. He still got it. The wife and I had a very good time.
Dwight and his band are firing on all cylinders. This was one heck of a show. His lead guitarist is really something else as well and frequently steals the show.
I flew my brother in from Florida to see this show. I have seen Dwight before and I was so impressed I always wanted to see him again. The first act sound was great, but as soon as he came on the screeching was really bad. I was really disappointed and embarrassed.
Great show as always. Love how he gets right into his performance, he’s as good as ever!
The sound was too loud. We were sitting stage left in the B section !
This was my first time seeing Dwight in person and he did not disappoint. The acoustics in the venue were pretty bad, though. His opening act and him were both trying to get help with sound throughout their sets. He started to look frustrated about it a few times, Also, the venue is okay but the crowd was mostly drunk/loud, stealing seats, rude and heckling the opening act. Comments made around the venue were from locals acting up and I think Dwight noticed it and drowned out the crowd with the music (he had them turn it all the way up). Pretty sad for Reno. I’m looking forward to seeing him at the fair in Fresno. I don’t think I’d ever go back to the venue for a concert again.
Of course, Dwight Yoakum and his opening act were amazing!! The venue at Silver Legacy was not the best. Biggest issue is the sound system. I swore I would never go back years ago but wanted to see Dwight Yoskum. I was hoping for improvement with the venue.
Like a fine wine Dwight and band get better and better... The concert was in a rather small venue that worked out really well... Sound was excellent.... It's worth the money to see Dwight play live....
The artist was great but…the sound system at Silver Legacy was not. Instruments drowned out the vocals. The bouncers were busy throwing out drunken patrons. And let’s face it…. Reno is a dirty, Smokey town. On a 1 thru 10…. This was a 3
We had a great time that night…was so glad to see Dwight he’s the only one I wanted to see in concert and he did not disappoint and I’m glad we went…all around cannot complain ol Dwight still got it goin on
Dwight played all night almost non-stop. We enjoyed all of his best songs including the well-known hits! The venue - The Elvis Presley Auditorium - was very cool.
This was a really great show and venue. I was extremely impressed. 10/10.
,Bern a lifelong fan. Still has a great voice & great moves. Dwight Yoakam is a concet I would go to again!
This show rocked for 90 straight minutes. Would go again in heartbeat! Awesome show.
It was very smooth buying tickets and checking on at the concert!
Great seats! Mark McKay opening act was enthusiast and entertaining. Dwight did not disappoint. His voice is strong and his dance moves still sexy. Good show from beginning to end. Reverberation was a a bit much on the eardrums and voice quality was not great, but this was the result in my opinion of the sound mixer. Lights very harsh on us in audience. My opinion is that the size of venue was overestimated resulting in inadequate sound and lighting. Dwight was great!!! Still got it!
Enjoyed Dwight from start to finish! I love it when the performer looks like he is having a good time and he did. Would go again!
What a treasure we have in Dwight Yoakam. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Mr Yoakams voice was perfection and his stage presence was spot on.
Awesome show, one of a kind performance influenced by the Municipal Auditorium venue that spawned the careers of so many legendary artists in country music and rock and roll! Played all his old hits and one of them even twice. Way better than I was expecting actually, I would recommend seeing Dwight at every opportunity!
Show was great, was quite late starting but otherwise excellent!
