David Copperfield on Tour
A living legend who sells out arenas around the globe when not at the Las Vegas theater that bears his name, David Copperfield is one of the most revered and successful performers in the history of show business. Over the course of his six-decade career, the master magician has sold more tickets than any other solo entertainer, including Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley.
David Copperfield's passion for magic, ingenuity as an innovator and ability to astonish are all trademarks of a career that has included Emmy-winning television specials, hit Broadway productions and countless performances. Among his spectacular and iconic feats are walking through the Great Wall of China, making a seemingly impossible escape from Alcatraz prison and â in what was called the Illusion of the Century â causing the Statue of Liberty to disappear in front of a live audience on Liberty Island and millions of TV viewers worldwide.
Viewers can experience his unique brand of magic and storytelling in David Copperfield: An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusions, an entertaining and engaging showcase of his art and craft featuring illusions that often take years to develop and perfect. Widely acclaimed as the greatest illusionist of our time, he continues to wow audiences on his world tours and at his shows inside the David Copperfield Theater at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Who is David Copperfield?
David Copperfield's career in magic began when he was 10 years old, performing in his New Jersey neighborhood as Davino the Boy Magician. By the age of 16, he was a member of the Society of American Magicians and teaching magic at New York University.
Copperfield's decades-long string of top-rated, Emmy-winning television specials began in 1977, where he performed his unprecedented feats and illusions before TV audiences.
When not performing live at such storied locations as the White House and in his own Broadway productions, Copperfield has shared his signature combination of storytelling, stagecraft and magic with audiences worldwide. First presented in 2003, David Copperfield: An Intimate Evening of Grand Illusion toured venues and sold-out arenas across the US and the world. It regularly runs at the David Copperfield Theater at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Excelent show, hopefully he can bring it to Mexico one day.
Words cannot describe. I just kept turning to my son in disbelief đ. Could watch over and over! Took my son to Vegas to celebrate his 30th birthday (and he loves magic) with tickets to Penn & Teller and David Copperfield. He also loved it.
Very happy with the show, the thing I like the most was thatâs David involved the public!! Of course like The Who show!!
Boring, nonsensical, condescending! Wish I would have started recording so I would have been ushered out. Half the audience would probably found it the best part of the show. Mr. Copperfield should enjoy retirement.
The Master Illusionist. Great show. Interactive, engaging and magical. Would highly recommend.
The venue is quite small and intimate which gave the initial feeling of a great night of close up slight of hand magic and illusions. The animatronic Alien, BLU32, was arguably the most impressive piece to the entire show. There was typical misdirection that happened. At the beginning of the show, we were all instructed take our phones and show the screens towards the stage after sending an email allowing David to have a photo taken of a piece of him and a paper that had peoples signatures on it and some information of the show that had yet to happen. The photo was emailed to everyone in the room who participated and we were asked to put our phones in a box very quickly on the table to prevent us from checking them throughout the show. The light from the phones makes it so you cannot see anyone else except David making the picture easily manipulated and photoshopped. The paper was hung in full view the entire show while with the amount of black out times in the venue make it very easy to swap out or add to. The car that was brought on stage was easily seen to be able to be collapsed as David fixed a window on his way through the car while seeing all the body panels shake in a very flimsy fashion. The UFO appeared after a total blackout. After watching it be taken away backstage it was easy to tell that is where it came from to begin with. David tried to do a slight of hand of a letter from his father while from the angle of my seat I saw him pick up and palm the letter and then the way he held it with his finger it was very obvious. I feel that most of the folks helping on stage from the audience were paid actors and not random. Seeing these people come out in times of total darkness and appear in places in front of you in the audience they were not when the lights went out gave this away. Also, having them show up at the end of the show to generate a standing ovation by standing and clapping was very distasteful. You shouldn't need to coach people to stand. If the content of the show was worthy it would be a natural reaction. I expected more from a legend like David Copperfield. If you're not as attentive as myself this would probably be a good show. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it for the money.
To begin I want to say the show started late. This is first thing I look for because I spent my money and spending my time wisely to arrive on time and be in my seat at the beginning of the show. I may not be a magic type person but the illusions were good. The story line was relatable but just not my cup of tea. My rating would be a 6 of 10.
We love magic shows and this was a great and memorable experience. 5 star performance by David and his staff.
No matter how great their skills and creativity, when artists mature and especially when they repeat the same performances thousands of times, it's hard to keep things fresh. David is a gifted and once original artist. At the performance I attended however, he seemed to rush through the script, barely allowing one word to escape his lips before rushing to the next, almost slurring. He seemed so concerned with mouthing the script in a rote way that it was hard to follow. I felt he was mailing it in. Sorry to say. He did produce grand illusions that kept my interest, but the hurried story line was poorly presented and beyond implausible. I think he should take some time off and create a fresh new show.
David Copperfield is never a disappointment!! He's like wine, the shows get BETTER each time. It's a FOREVER memory when you are picked to be a part of the show; cementing the fact that it is not planned and totally random. The area is not overly huge which allows the show to be more personal and intimate. All seats have a great view of the stage. However we prefer the middle section, midways' the room. Copperfield AMAZES every time. My husband and I are still flabbergasted at how Copperfield knew what he (husband) was going to say BEFORE he did! DAVID COPPERFIELD is a must see EVERY time we're in Vegas!!
Some really good magician tricks and good story line. Didn't like the constant "mask up" people walking around with their Covid paddles. Ridiculous.
First, let me start my saying this man is in his 60âs and still mages to give 3 shows a nightâŚ! The whole experience was awesome as David really knows how to make an entranceâŚI wonât spoil it by telling you the tricks that he performed but they were big and over the topâŚlike what you would expect on Vegas, babyâŚIâve read the other reviews about the show being cheesy and all of that but go and judge for yourselfâŚmy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed itâŚ
Please save your money and most importantly your time. This show is 10% magic and 90% filler. The David Copperfield of old is gone.
The best show in Vegas - advanced and inspiring storyline, spectacular tricks ( or was it magic?) and aidience engagement Must see show!
This is a awesome show always something happening from the minute he steps on stage. Love how he gets the Audience involved with his Illusions. Much better than I Expected.
My expectations of this performance felt short iâm such a reputable magician. It was long, drawn out and very boring. My group had a difficult time keeping our attention. There was some cuteness with the little creature however
Great venue, wonderful and serious safety features and amazing just amazing illusions we are still talking about it days later. Mr Copperfield is a kind, generous and appreciative man.
The show is fun, funny, exciting, mind blowing and has a great âfeel goodâ ending! My 5th time seeing DC and he never disappoints!
For an illusionist it was weak. Like a show that has run it course a long time ago. Regret going for sure.
Itâs was great Ggggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttyttttttty
