Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.
Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album.
Nobody rocks that slide guitar like Bonnie! Perfect set list, cozy venue, legendary band. Even the backdrop and lighting were perfection. And her voice? It’s gotten better with age. How does she DO that??
Bonnie looks and sounds as good as she was in her youth. Had the audience in the palm of her hand. An absolutely wonderful evening shared with my daughter.
Fantastic show, Bonnie’s voice and guitar are still the best out there!!! If you have the opportunity you must see her on this tour.
What a wonderful show. Bonnie still has it. Great strong voice and sang all of her greatest songs. I would love to see her again. And talk about a superb guitarist.....WoW!
We had great seats at the Chicago Theater, front row Loge. Bonnie was amazing! Standing O when she stepped out on stage. Along with the songs of hers that I love, she did a great rendition of INXS "Need You Tonight". But the crowning glory for me was when she sang "Angel From Montgomery"I didn't think I could love that song more than I already do. She was visibly emotional afterward. She is talented, humble, and funny. I will see her every chance I get.
Bonnie Raitt was excellent as predicted. Roy Rogers was great. Did not expect such incredible guitar playing.
Bonnie was still the same awesome performer she has always been. Great stage presence, great interaction with the audience and the same wonderful talent. SO glad we got to see her!
Great evening of music. Opening was wonderful. Bonnie’s voice was fantastic. Her emotional connection was warm and caring. I have missed seeing her for a long time. I am so glad we got on her schedule.
I have loved Bonnie for years and this was the first time I saw her live. Her and the band had so much fun and the music made me move the whole time. Bonnie is such a good person with a warm heart.
As per usual, Bonnie Raitt delivered an electric and emotional performance. Always the true showman!
Balance was off and instruments drowned out the fabulous voice of Bonnie Raitt, perhaps the most gracious human in the music business. We missed hearing her magnificent voice as the centerpiece of the concert and grew weary of overly loud instrumentation.
Bonnie as so wonderful. The State theatre provided a wonderful, intimate venue. The sound was great and she put on a wonderful show.
Bonnie Raitt has been showing MN her musical abilities for a long time. I have had the pleasure to attend many of her shows and each one is special. This particular show was more of what I expected. The room was great, the volume was not so high that your ears rang for hours after and the show was spectacular as always.
The packed house was in fire. What an evening! We were even sharing old photo we’d had of her from years ago. What treat!
Bonnie Raitt have an excellent concert as usual. She is one of the all-time great performers! Perfect pitch, soulful, appreciative, amazing! The State Theater, however, was hot enough that it detracted from the concert.
My experience from the Wednesday night show is summed up in one word. Emotional. I laughed and cried as Roy Rogers opened then Raitt and the band took me along for q generous 100 plus minutes of pure adrenalin. Rogers 12 string guitar was melodius, soothing and poignant, beautiful experience for me. Bonnie and the bands performance touched me, from her recent grammy winner to the tribute to Prine, her voice was Raitt on!! The "last song"Bringing down the house did that, the crowd wanted more and Bonnie brought it on! Thank you Bonnie the band and Roy for a memorable night! Come back often, you are Minnesotan............ Ufda! MKHSR
The concert was probably great but we were so cold we couldn’t enjoy it. The draft was constant and very disappointing.
Fantastic concert! Bonnie knows how to engage an audience. Multiple standing ovations, great sound, and beautiful Bonnie! She thrilled us with our favorites and surprised us with some INXS and Talking Heads. A wonderful night of music.
Bonnie Rait gave an outstanding performance! She is also so personable on stage, giving it an intimate experience.
We had incredible seats . I was amazed at the sound quality. Roy Rogers was a pleasant surprise and his guitar work was Ethereal. I have had the pleasure of seeing Bonnie Raitt several times. This show was exceptional. So much heart & soul laid out on the stage!
