BEAUTIFUL – The Carole King Musical tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
Featuring a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil, including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got A Friend” and the title song, BEAUTIFUL has a book by and Tony® Award-nominee and Academy® Award-nominated writer Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni, choreography by Josh Prince, and took home two 2014 Tony® Awards and a 2015 Grammy® Award.
Great cast, great venue and great show! It has laughter, drama and the music is sensational! I learned a lot about the life of Carol King, 100% recommended!
I brought my mother and mother in law as a girls outing. My mother's time is limited for health reasons so I am making everyday worthwhile. The sheer joy on her face from the music is something that I will always hold dear to my heart.
Music was entertaining. Story presentation and set design were great. Venue has lots of stairs. Overall a wonderful experience!
This was a great play. Story was good and music was GREAT. Cast was very talented and entertaining. Very well cast.
This is the second time I saw this show. The performers were upbeat, entertaining and the singing and choreography was very good. If there was any downside to it, it was the volume of the audio on the night we attended. It was a bit too loud. It was great to hear all my favorite Carole King tunes. I was impressed by the number of hits she was involved with writing for herself as well as other artists. What a great musical talent she has.
The production and cast were awesome! I was amazed to find out the music they all created! Brought back so many good memories!
The show had me smiling the entire time. I went home singing. Great music, great performers, great fun!!
The beautiful story of Carol King gave new meaning to the songs that I have been singing since Tapestry in my grade school years.
This was a feel good event which provided the back story on the development of all the songs we loved in the 60's and 70's -the cast was great, the venue was very nice however long lines at the women's bathroom. My guess is that 70% of the audience was female. I loved the musical performances. I had hoped that the story would have included more on the Tapestry album and here time in California.
If you're like me and literally wore out your Tapestry album, you're going to love the story of Carole King's music building to the creation of Tapestry.
The performance was simply amazing! Of course it goes without saying that the music was fabulous, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the energy of the cast performing the songs. Not to mention the perfect comedic timing of the players. I very much look forward to seeing it again!
I was very impressed with this show and very entertained. I took my older aunt and she was very entertained as well. Great show!!
I saw Beautiful twice and enjoyed it even more the second time. The cast and the singing was more than I expected!!! Thanks!!!
This was one of the best musicals my husband and I have seen. Toe tapping, sing along, mesmerizing story. It’s probably one we would see again but it was the last day. I had love Carol King from the 70’s and will continue to love her. Great job Carol.
This show was just amazing. So much great music and the story of Carole King was such a great story. Learned so much from it.
I am so so happy that I was able to get main floor seats for this outstanding play/musical. The whole evening consisted of a nice story base, funny lines, great acting, dancing and singing in your seat, and outstanding music. Thank you all for making me feel very happy and beautiful.
We were totally, totally blown away by the amazing vocal range of Sarah Bockel as Carole King and how she physically transformed her from a precocious teenager to a wizened adult. The staging was outstanding, appropriate to the time frame, and the costuming and quick changes simply floored the four of us. We had first-row seats in the dressing circle so we had a great view of the entire stage. Every single person I know who has seen this has had the same response, simply outstanding all around.
We loved this play! The way each song and dance was incorporated into the play as a flashback with the "original" group coming onstage to perform it was so clever. The lead actress as Carole was tremendous. Definitely Broadway caliber.
This is the second time we have seen this show, and we would see it again. It is a great story with great acting, singing and dancing. The fans in the stands were rocking along with the players on the stage. The girl who played Carole King was phenomenal. If you grew up in the 50's and 60's, this is a must-see.
I didn’t know very much about Carole King’s early career, so I had no idea what to expect. This show taught me a lot about songs that I love, and offered a glimpse into the changing pop music scene of the 1960’s-early 70’s. It also made me think more about the writers behind our most beloved songs. Finally, I loved how King’s actual life became a metaphor for how all of us, at some point or another, need to find our own voices and sing our own songs. I saw this show with a group of girlfriends and we all loved it! Highly recommend!
