Ended too early

had always wanted to see air since the late 90's so jumped at the chance... had to fly almost 500 miles to the closest location they played to me... but it was WELL WORTH IT! wow - what a great show - no opening act - and they only played 90 minutes, but such a great performance!
So amazing to see one of my favorite bands in a beautiful venue.
Sadly, NOT the sonic souffle I had hoped for. Once again, studio mastery doesn't make a smooth transition to the stage. The blissful yet pop-propulsive vibe that AIR articulates so well on CD, seems unable to withstand the rigors of live-performance. Partly, it's the nature-of-the-beast; the control & fastidious-ness of the studio must give way to the more blunt one-take/no-overdubs nature of the live-setting. But the other, more egregious part must be placed squarely on the band and its sound designer/engineer - who badly overplay (pun intended) their hand with volume & mix. Bass-frequencies led the way - an assault on both the ears and the solar-plexus, which overwhelmed any/all attempts at keyboard-delicacies. It's one thing for the Sound Engineer to not HEAR the problem; but how could they not FEEL the problem?! Deep, discordant throbbing where sinewy basslines should be. Of course this is not an uncommon complaint of the modern electronica/EDM show; where our ability to re-create & amplify low frequencies has far-surpassed the actual NEED to do so. As for the VISUAL aspects of show; not much of interest to report; decidedly lackluster on every level. The set/lighting/presentation had a cheap/ad-hoc look to it; as if hastily thrown-together for a short PR-tour. Very little $$ or thought/concept appeared to have gone into it, sadly, for such a visual-sensual band.
Well, it was an Air show, haha! The performance was what I expected. They performed a lot of the hits. I wish they played a few more tunes. The concert went by fast. I wish there was an opening act. I liked the fact it was in a very nice theater in Chicago and we could sit down for the show. I've seen them before in Detroit and had to stand the whole time. With their music not being so dance able it was kinda a burden standing. I honestly thought they would have been more entertaining. The stage set was very cool, but their stage banter was just "thank you", next song. I know they are French, but come on, get into it a bit more! Also, total bummer, they didn't have merchandise to buy??? Over all it was a great "chill" concert in a nice setting to take a date to.
I loved every minute of Air's performance. Their mixture of ambient sounds, trippy lighting, and innocent vocals created an experience that shares the light and dark of life simultaneously. They are a huge inspiration creatively, and already long for their next visit to Chi-town!
I had heard AIR once or twice on some movies (10 things I hate about you and Marie Antoinette) but had never really appreciated their true beauty before seeing them live. I was literally blown away! Being a music junkie I really cannot put into words how mesmerizing these two extremely talented SEXY boys are! Their set-up was super impressive, amazing effects and the light show was fantastic (although during People in the City the lighting was so intense a girl next to me starting having seizures...sad). I would seriously see them again and hope they come to the states again real soon!!!!
Concert was unbelievable. They played a great mix of their music. The visuals on screen behind them were simple but intense. The audio effects were spectacular. The crowd was totally into it, dancing and singing along. Venue was super comfortable. Can't wait for them to come back.
Better than I expected! I've been a casual listener for years, but seeing Air perform live definitely made me appreciate their music more. For a band that generally sounds pretty "loungy" on their albums, the show was high energy and they had people dancing. Great opportunity to see them at such a small venue as well.
This is the first time I have seen Air live, and I was amazed at the performance aspect of the show, especially considering Air is an electronic band. Also, I was expecting it would just be a relaxing experience, my but my friend and I danced the night away. The energy in the place was absolutely amazing!
