    98Rockfest = upcoming Avalanche Tour + 3 DD

by bulletdr on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

Attended 98Rockfest on 2 April 2011. Acts included Eye Empire, Art of Dying and Crossfade on the outdoor stage, followed by Halestorm, Skillet, Theory of a Deadman, Seether, Stone Sour, and 3 Doors Down. In all honesty, 3DD as the headliner was a bit puzzling and their mainstream style was a bit of a buzzkill after Seether and Stone Sour. The outdoor stage artists all delivered great sets and it was good to see Crossfade back out with a new album after many years. Inside, all of the artists played enjoyable, but truncated sets required by this multi-artist format. Notable in these sets were (1) apparently someone convinced Corey Taylor that fans wanted to hear songs OTHER THAN Audio Secrecy. They included Bother and Through Glass, which were omitted when I saw them last year. Seether played an AMAZING set, but should fire their soundboard operator who started 3 songs off with blaring feedback. Seether played the duet Broken with Lzzy Hale from Halestorm singing the A. Lee part and she absolutely KILLED IT! Was awesome to hear her sing it...those seeing the Avalanche Tour later this year take note not to miss this! 3 Doors Down played a "nice" set but it was awkward following the thrashing sets by Seether and Stone Sour. All in all it was a great concert I rated 4 out of 5 stars.

    Loved every minute!

by Andi3DD on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

Fantastic show! Every band did a great job. I came for 3 Doors Down, and as I wish their set was longer, I was satisfied with the performance. The selection of bands was fantastic as they all have their own unique addition to the festival. It was worth the drive!

Was very boring. People started leaving way before the end of the show. I had to force myself to stay awake to the end because it was putting me to sleep. Last years rockfest was amazing and one of the best concerts ever. This year just came up short. Hopefully next year will be more exciting.

    Each band rocked that stage!!

by cperusse on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

The performances were ALL very good and each band rocked the stage like no other, some more than others. skillet put on an unforgettable performance with cool special effects, seether was down right amazing live, store sour screamed theory heads off and still got in touch with the crowd, three doors down made a lasting impression and halestorm came out of no where with their raw talent!!! Great concert!

Corey taylor needs to sing more talk less!

by joeSTUR on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

All in all it was alright. The sound was pretty bad for every band but Stone Sour and Three Doors Down and the worse part was suffering through Cory Taylor from Stone Sourtalking between each song just trying to look cool.... Stick to singing buddy!

    98 Rock Fest

by Sunseekerone on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

Great line up for the event. The audio quality sucked. I have been to dozens of live concerts and this was the worst for sound quality. The PA system looked undersized for the event and it was shrill. The bass was non existant and we had premium VIP seats.

    98Rockfest

by CocoBear on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

I really enjoyed the bands at 98Rockfest. By far...Skillet and Stone Sour were the BEST! The only complaint I have it that the people at the St. Pete Forum should be more attentive to their sound system. Feedback and bad noise during the show...annoying. Otherwise the band line up was AWESOME! :)

    ROCKFEST!! Need I say more?

by Anonymous on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

The show was unforgettable. The General Admission-Standing area "pit" was off the chain. Even my girl was knocking big dudes back into the ring! My only issue is that they seriously underestimated the demand for tour shirts. Each time I saw a box come in, it would sell out before I could get some. I am very disappointed about that. Otherwise, it's the best show I've been to in years.

    Rockfest Sound System Problems

by Loralinda on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

WONDERFUL BANDS, BUT what was wrong with the sound system Sat. night at the St. Pete TImes Forum?? The 1st band (Halestorm) sounded okay & then it went downhill FAST! !! The sound for ALL of the bands (UNTIL Three Doors Down) was unbelievably horrendous - then Three Doors Down came on to end the show & they sounded GOOD. I've seen all these bands before (except Stone Sour) & KNOW they don't sound like that - what was wrong?!?!?!

    Fill up the seats!

by TboneThom on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

I like the band "3 doors down" however, they were not the icing on the cake. All the bands rocked. But, it didn't end with a bang. Leading up to "3 dd" the bands were driving hard. Then, the end was sorta mellow.

    Stone Sour was incredible

by DaWall on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

every band we saw was amazing. crossfade outside was an awesome way to start off the festivities. halestorm with their bad ass drummer and beautiful lead singer and skillet got my friends and i all hyped up. theory of a deadman kind of toned things down which kind of sucked cause if you get pumped you dont want to right after get calmed down. seether livened up the place slightly and stone sour blew us all away. corey taylor is the best rockstar ive ever seen. 3 doors down shouldnt have been last because again stone sour hyped us up then three doors down was too calming. but all in all the whole concert was amazing.

    Very Average

by rkwills on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

The show was average, Crossfade was awesome outside (free). Theory was bland, Stone Sour & Seether were good. 3 Doors was forgettable, coulda just listened to a cd. Crowd was not very big. Over all, it kinda sucked.

Skillet & Halestorm STOLE the show!

    Good Show

by MusicFan3205 on 4/4/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

Was an all around great show!! Loved that there was stuff going on outside before the rest of the concert inside. It was a beautiful day for it. Overall I think Halestorm, Skillet, and Seether totally rocked the house and were by far the best acts. I was a little disappointed in 3Doors down which is surprising because I am a big fan. They played some lesser known and newer tunes that just seemed to take the energy out of the pumped up crowd.
