    five finger death punch

by dsmoothisthename on 5/2/12Tampa Bay Times Forum - Tampa

Great time, FFDP was awesome. Should have headlined. Halestorm is worth the mention as well, that chick rocks

    Shinedown was a Letdown

by Brewnette on 5/2/12Tampa Bay Times Forum - Tampa

Shinedown was the headliner. All the bands leading up to them were good and enloyable. However, Shinedown was having so many technical difficulties and I was extremely disappointed. Half way into their show I ended up leaving. It felt like the whole night ended on a sour note. You pay so much for these concerts I feel a little jiped.

Probably the worst concert I've seen

by Boringconcert on 5/2/12Tampa Bay Times Forum - Tampa

The sound was horrible, vocals were indecipherable. All bands had no depth...1-2 songs that were good. Breakdown and setup took longer than the show. Basically all of the bands sounded boringly unoriginal and sound sucked.

    overall could have been better

by ursistahsass on 5/2/12Tampa Bay Times Forum - Tampa

Traveled to the show. Had no idea some of the bands were playing outside. Adelitas Way and Art of Dying. Give Finger Death Punch needed a longer set. Halestorm, Evanesence, and Shinedown were awesome!

    PISSED OFF!!

by tronix on 5/2/12Tampa Bay Times Forum - Tampa

Very dissapointed!!! For some STUPID reason, Five Finger Death Punch had to cut their show SHORT!!! Evanescence played WAY TOOO LONG!!! And to finish it off, Shinedown cut it short too for tecnical dificulties????? In any case.....the most dissapointing part was FFDP cutting it short.

    98 Rockfest was fun

by PatrickD1788 on 5/2/12Tampa Bay Times Forum - Tampa

This was the first 98 rock fest for my wife and I. We were not big fans of Halestorm or Evanecence, but they both put on good sets. Five Finger Death Punch was also fun to watch. We primarily went to see Shinedown and they were awesome. Even after the technical difficulties required them to finish the set acoustic, they still put on a great show.

RockFest didn't measure up this year

by dw33619 on 5/2/12Tampa Bay Times Forum - Tampa

It has been a great concert the past couple of years but this year fell short......well short. There were no real big time headliners and then when Shinedown flopped at the end - I left early.

3 doors down wasn't very good.

by Champ3662 on 5/5/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

Seether was good, stone sour played like pop stars... nothing heavy... no slipnot... Opening bands were great... but didn't pay to see opening bands perform better...

The lineup was fantastic. The pit was not too crowded, which made the extra cost worth it. I also feel that 98Rock did a great job at organizing this event.

    Stone Sour rocked!

by snowy86 on 4/12/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

I absolutely love concerts with a bunch of rock bands. You also get a really good price at the shows put on by radio stations.

    Stone Sour should of headlined

by bkamp77 on 4/10/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

Three doors downs looked like they were just going through the motions. Stone Sour was great. Skillet stole the show.

    7(+) OF THE BEST

by bicks247 on 4/9/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

The day was hot and so was the music provided by the bands. The free show was really good value :-) with Crossfade headlining and giving us a great start to the more established bands. Halestorm was solid. Then came my highlight of the day Skillett, who I felt gave the most exicting and full performance of all. Lead singer from halestorm provided female vocal back-up on a few songs but this christian band were absolutely in top form. Seether were OK and fortunately gave a good rendition of remedy otherwise they would not have deserved their billing. Theory of a deadman were very good performers and their artistery in vocals and their songs ensured that thier rather lightweight material ( excepting bad bad girlfriend) fitting in well. Completely contrasting with TOAD was Stone sour who blasted the audience with very heavy and powerfull songs until bother that it ( my highlight of their set by some distance). At the start i thought the frontman was arrogant in the extreeme and was too bad mouthed given kids were in the audience but his showmanship was immense and by the end i respected him and the band = i realised much like a film star his was an act and as such he was forgiven ! Then came the headline act, one of my favorite bands, who were very tuneful but the sheer energy of stone sour meant that they gave the headline performance. Yes, 3 doors down gave a great show but theirs is not one of pure energy. that is not until their encore which was superb. So it all ended late into the night and after what i'd say were about 15 top tunes from loads of bands it was a resounding success. Great stuff for a couple of Brits who were on their vacation but always try to see a few new bands ( all new here !) each time we visit. Maybe we can arrange our next vacation around the time of the next 98 rockfest ???

    98Rockfest ROCKS!!!!

by Rockgoddess23 on 4/8/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

Had an awesome time during the concert, all the bands were phenomenal and amazing as always EXCEPT for Theory of a Deadman! Please, please I beg you do not book this band anymore! I do not wish to waste my hard earned money on this band, who is a total fake, the lead singer cannot sing live. I have seen this band 3 times already and each and everytime, this band disappoints to no end. The band did not deserve to be there. What bothers me is how in the world has Theory of a Deadman managed to last this long? That night when they performed, the background music was super imposed and loud to drown out his voice or lack thereof. Please concert producers/promoters, do us all concert goers a favor and not waste our hard earned money on this fakes and talentless group...In fact the next time if I see them on any concert line up list, I will not buy the tickets.

    98 Rockfest- AWESOME

    by mywalker3 on 4/6/1198 Rockfest - Tampa

had been listening 2 Art Of Dying for months - so I waited all day @ the rail 2 b in front 2 c them( for Barrelhead & Eye Empire too) totally missed everything else going on outside - but front row for preshow was worth it! Got 2 meet AOD too- good times. I agree that (inside) Seether & Stone Sour stole the show. I like 3DD- but they should not have been the headliner- took my buzz right away! Thought it was just me that thought the sound was distorted- until I read these previous comments. The sound was all over the place. But I loved it & can't wait to go back next year!!!!!!!!!!!!

    poor quality

by zeusmom on 4/6/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

The accoustics were so bad, that we couldn't even understand the words they were singing. And the instruments were louder than the singers. We like the bands, but the accoustics at the St Pete Times Forum suck! The only band that was audible was Three Doors Down, and their sound guys took a couple of songs before they finally got it right. Three Doors Down was great. And the music between the bands..... what can I say, The concert was called 98 Rockfest. The music the DJs were playing was hip hop, not rock!

    Wasnt worth it

by Anonymous on 4/6/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

For the amount of fees they tacked on, It cost way to much to sit in the nose bleed section. Bands were good, but they couldnt get the sound right. Could bearly hear the singers.

    Rethink the order!!

by Skye72981 on 4/5/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

The show and all the band were great. My only issue was having 3 Doors Down there, not only are they not heavy enough for the like of Stonesour or Seether but they were the closing act. If they are to be with these groups they need to be early on in the show. When they did come on half the crowd had left and those still there were really not jamming out at all. I was very impressed with Skillet, i admit i didnt expect much from them but they put on a great show.

    PIT PASSES worth every PENNY!

by DaddyoDixon on 4/5/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

Great lineup of bands- every one rocked! Pit passes were worth every penny- we were so close it was ridiculous. Never felt "jammed in" because there was so much area reserved for pit pass holders- freakin' sweet! There were a couple sound quality issues with the vocal mics on a couple bands but the concert was exceptional from start to finish and the lineup flowed well with very short breaks between bands. Great time- I highly recommend to all.

Great bands, don't know about the venue

by kujo17 on 4/5/11St Pete Times Forum - Tampa

The free concert in the Plaza was amazing! Amazing bands, amazing sound, beautiful weather, perfect! The bands inside seemed to have some technical issues. Skillet didn't have sounds the first part of their first song, then Seether's cord got kicked out. It just seemed there was a fair amount of technical difficulty. I have seen Seether three other times and this was definitely the worst, through no fault of their own.
