  • The tenors were off the chain

    by LadyG32 on 7/12/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

I truly enjoyed myself at the show. The groups, especially Blue Magic and the Stylistics sound just like they always have. The memory will be unforgettable. The dance moves were just as expected, "smooth". Thanks for bringing back the memories of good times.

  • Go Bluenotes

by ttownrep on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was wonderful. I came in from Tappahannock, Virginia. I could have enjoyed the singing more if the seats were so tightly arranged where I could hardly more and had to worry more about the person sitting beside me. Harold's Bluenotes were fabulous!! Enjoyed Blue Magic. Those two stand out!!

  • 70's Soul Jam was mesmerizing!

by PurXstasy on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

The 70's Soul Jam is the best comradere of singers of love ballads from the 70's! I was mesmerized with the Blue Notes and the tenore of the Stylistics 42 years of singing together and still having the moves and the voices!

  • 70's Soul Jam was out - of - sight***

by Crashcot on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

Harold Melvin's Blue Notes set the tone for the evening and the Blue Magic took it to the next level with their smooth grooves and moves; The Delfonics kept the pacing going in their kingly attire reaching back vocally to the old school party days; just when I thought we had eclipsed all vocalization the Stylistics greened it up (green outfits) with all of their top hits and a recording from their new CD that just sent everybody to a new planet! I thought the Earth,Wind, and Fire concert was tops, but this Soul Jam made grasp for breathe. What an evening! This was real singing without voice enchancing using technology.

  • Great Show

    by Divine121 on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 4 out of 5

I took my mother to the concert as a surprise. These are the groups she loved in her day. I am a 70's baby!!!!! We both enjoyed Harold Melvin's Blue Notes the Best. The lead singer has a voice that is strong and he sounds just like Teddy Pendergrass. Each group was great. The lead singer for the Stylistics has a beautiful voice...and they performed a song from their new album. I will definitely buy it. We had a good time listening to all the bands.

  • 70's Soul Jam

    by undercovermomma48 on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was excellent! Harold Melvin & the Blue notes sound as good today as they did years ago. Blue Magic was great. their songs brought you back to a place in time yesteryear. The Delfonics were just ok. their voices were not as smooth as the other groups that appeared. The Stylistics were superb as always. I've seen them twice, and I was not disappointed either time. I hope that we can get more groups and artist of the 70's and 80's to come to Hampton Roads. This seems to be a good venue and many would come out and support these events if they are advertised properly.

  • Soul Jam was fabulous

    by 44grandma on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best concert we have been too in a long time. Have been to the Soul Jam concerts when they were at Ted Constant Center. The crowd sang to almost all of the songs. The weather was great and the talent was incredible. Sure hope Portsmouth brings this back next year, or a couple times a year. Emcee was a local TV personality and he was terrific also. Can't say enough good things.

  • Great Showmanship

    by smil61 on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great. This is not like the wild funk from the new age. It is wonderful singing, and great showmanship. The songs take you back and brings out the youth in you from the 70's and 80's. You feel like a teen again.

  • All groups were "OUTSTANDING!!!!"

    by NYC1949 on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

As stated above, I fully enjoyed the show/concert. I've seen "The Stylistics" before, however, they continue to put on an "OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE" each time!!!!! I'm extremely glad that I finally got to see in person, "The Delfonics", "Blue Magic" and "Harold Melvin's Blue Notes"!!!! That was my second time at the nTelos Pavillion. I saw "Earth, Wind and Fire" on June 19. My reserved Orchestra Center Seat was perfect for the "70s Soul Jam"!!! I've already made reservations for the "Fresh Fest" on August 14th. Your venues of my favorite artists/groups are perfect for me. I will contiue to attend your nTelos venues in the future!!! Thanks and keep up the "OUTSTANDING SERVICE"!!!!!!

This concert was everything I expected to be. We saw stylistics, harold melvin blue notes, delfonics and blue magic. They sounded just like they sang in the 70s. They were all great and without a doubt I would recommend this concert to everyone I know.

  • 70 Soul Jam was unforgettable!!

Everything about the evening was great; music timing, crowd, drinks were very expensive though.

  • 4 Really great groups!

by Inkwell on 7/11/10nTelos Wireless Pavilion - PortsmouthRating: 5 out of 5

Oh what a night! The music was spectacular, the audience was wonderful. Everyone had a great time. Even my husband had a fantastic time: "sanging" through the whole show.

  • Every Group was a hit

by mbsdw on 3/2/10Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Even though the groups were formed back in the day the artist or whatever you would like to call them today can not begin to compare with our old(seasoned) school groups from the 70's. They still get down voice and moves. That's the type of music our kids today need to know and learn

  • Stylistics were the best

    by MOMMYG50 on 2/23/10Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed this show. All the groups were great, but the Stylistics stole the show with "Hurry up this way again" it was amazing. The only downer was they did'nt sing Children of the Night

  • 70s Soul Jam was awesome!!!!
