  • Stylistics are truly fantastic!

    by Diaann2 on 2/28/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the show and would go again and again! I think it's time for the Manhnattans to retire and enjoy the fruits of life! The Blue Notes sang just like the old days and Rufus Thorne one of the back up singers had more energy than a 20 year old! He made me want to get out of seat on every song.... I didn't even miss Teddy - bless his sole! Rufus you go boy! Overall I had great time..... I must remember to leave my at purse at home. I kept throwing it my guy's lap everytime I heard a steppers cut... It was a fun time!

I've always heard about the 70's tour but until this week had a opportunity to see these groups live and on stage. It was a experience of a life time. Me and my Wife enjoyed this show for it was our first concert together, Thanks.

  • Good Show!

by olskoolgirl on 2/28/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The headliners, the Stylistics, put on a great show. They sang many favorites and the audience enjoyed all. My husband wanted hear "Children of the Night" and I wanted to hear "Payback is a Dog" both of which they did not sing. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the show very much. They sang songs that we had forgotten about, so hearing them after years of not, was a welcome and enjoyable experience. The opening acts each had short sets performing some of their biggest hits. I was disappointed with the Dramatics as they are one of my favorite groups. I have seen them many times before, the last being about 10 years ago, and they jammed! LJ should get back on his game. I would love to see them as headliners again. We also saw the Manhattans, HM's Blue Notes, and Heatwave. They all had short but good sets overall.

  • 70 Soul Jam was great!!

    by Msgtred15 on 2/28/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed the show. I understand the Manhattans lost a lot of their original personnel and so did the Blue Notes but Heat Wave, The Dramatics and finally The Stylistics were phenomenal! I wished The Stylistics would sing "Children of the Night" from the Round 2 Album but they can't sing all of their hits. It would take all night!

  • 70's Sould Jam

by ofdalion on 2/28/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

I would recommend the concert. The 'average' rating is not because of the performances. They were great! I loved the music, but I would have loved to have heard more music. There were quite a few songs from each group that could have been inserted if there had been less talking in between the groups. Couldn't hear the music clearly. A LOT of people late and confused about seats. People in front row standing so we couldn't always see performers.

  • The Stylistics were fantastic!

    by CandyJones58 on 2/28/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

My husband and I really enjoyed the show, but we thought besides the Stylistics, the other performers did not have enough time to get into their true rhythm and flow displaying their true performing talents. These groups could really sing, they just seemed a little rushed especially Heatwave and the Dramatics. We are baby boomers and the 70's were great times for us. So hearing some of our favorite songs was electrifying. Besides that, we sang and danced to the music and it was a very memorable evening for us.

I truly enjoyed the concert and had a fantastic time, considering I went by myself. The ladies around me made it more enjoybable and we all really got into the music. I wouldn't have missed this concert for anything and I would recommend everyone who enjoys Old School/Oldies to attending one of these concerts.

  • Stylistics

by BettyLety on 2/28/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Overall the concert was great. All the artists performed very well. Show started on time which was a good thing seeing is there were quite a few acts. Did not like the fact that people showed up so late and disrupted our viewing of the show. So worth the money I paid. Will never forget this concert

  • Stylistics were awesome!!

    by Ratliff44 on 2/28/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The show started promptly at 8:00pm. The Manhattans opened the show and they were good, the Blue Notes were also very good. Heatwave not so much.

I Looooove the 70's jam. Everybody that performed was great. I look foward to next years show. RIGHt ON! But, the sound system was not good for all the acts. I think everybody should have the same respect when it comes to lighting and sound.

THE STYLISTICS WERE MY FAVORITE BUT THE SHOW WAS A+.

  • Heatwave and Stylistics were great!!!

by TNNT on 2/27/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The show was marvelous. I truly enjoyed Heatwave, the Stylistics and surprizingly, Harold Melvin's Bluenotes. The lead singer was about as close to Teddy Pendergrass as one would expect. However, Heatwave and the Stylistics were simply great. I have seen them perform before and they continue to meet my expectations.

    by TripleT1 on 2/27/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The sound system was poor for the first act, the Manhattans, but got better as the show progressed. I like the show and would go again.

  • Stylistics stole show!!

by POPSLEX on 2/27/11Arie Crown Theater - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

The Manhattans were on stage for ten minutes if that!Harold Melvin's Blue Notes were good!Heatwave was exceptional, and the Dramatics only song a few of their hits, what happened to "In the rain"?? and some of their most popular hits???The Sylistics as usual were dominant and on their game!!
