4 INSANELY TALENTED ACTORS, 150 ROLES
100 BREAKNECK MINUTES OF SHEER THEATRICAL FUN FOR EVERYONE FROM AGES 9 TO 99
ALL MEZZANINE SEATS $39 AT ALL PERFORMANCES
“The two-time Tony® Award-winning "39 Steps" is a comedic spoof of the classic 1935 film, with only 4 "insanely talented" actors portraying more than 150 characters, sometimes changing roles in the blink of an eye.   The brilliantly madcap story follows our dashing hero Richard Hannay as he races to solve the mystery of The 39 Steps, all the while trying to clear his name!  The show’s uproarious fast-paced 100 minutes promises to leave you gasping for breath… in a good way!"
Ben Brantley of the New York Times called it “Absurdly enjoyable,”  “A perfect soufflé,” and “Theatre at its finest.” Liz Smith of the New York Post called it “The most entertaining show on Broadway, ” and Joe Dziemianowicz of the Daily News said it’s “Ingenious! A Dizzy Delight!”

    Well Done!

by Kathilda on 6/9/15Union Square Theatre - New York

My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed the show which was funny and amazingly well-done! The cast of four played several different characters seamlessly with comical special effects. Brilliant performance and great incorporation of several Hitchcock films!

    39 Steps is a delight!

by ParkAvenue6 on 6/5/15Union Square Theatre - New York

The play consisted of 4 very talented actors playing over 100 roles. They all were excellent performers. There were few props but they were cleverly used which only added to the hilarity. It's fast paced and must be seen to be believed. I think 99 Steps would appeal to people of all ages.

    Amusing tongue in cheek hitchcock

by Gramercycat on 6/3/15Union Square Theatre - New York

We enjoyed this lighthearted romp through hitchcock country. The special effects and staging were clever, the four actors were talented, and the couple of hours passed very quickly. Recommended.

    39 Steps

by mattrg111 on 6/2/15Union Square Theatre - New York

We honestly didn't know what to expect, I had never seen the original movie so we wen't in "cold" so to speak. It was enjoyable - I made a comment to my wife that it was very "monty python-y" - the accents got to be a bit much after a while. I did enjoy it.....I got home and borrowed the dvd from the local library (wish I had done that before the show) - the actors kept very true to the play - down to a few of the funny moments One thing....if you're driving down they show parking nearby. One of the ICON parking lots says if you bring back a validated ticket, parking was $7.00!! So I tried....no good.....I don't know if you have to have use their reservation system first or what - but don't buy into it - complete scam

39 Steps - Non Stop Action and Laughter

by ecwagner on 5/30/15Union Square Theatre - New York

the title says it all. If you want to spend a boring evening don't go to this performance. Written based on a Alfred Hitchcock Movie, The 39 Steps pays tribute to the master. Its a must see!

39 Steps was so much fun!

by Katecam on 5/26/15Union Square Theatre - New York

Reminiscent of old vaudeville in the best of ways, this play was truly excellent. You'll laugh, you'll laugh some more and then some more. The acting was great and the actors seasoned and silly. Broadway at it's best. We got bumped up to 3rd row due to it being a matinee.

39 Steps to Get to the Exit

by PlayBibber on 5/19/15Union Square Theatre - New York

Dry, inconsistent, difficult to follow at times. Only 4 actors play an enormous amount of parts, switching at times right on stage, so it could be difficult to keep track of a character especially if the actor just changed parts to a different character in front of your eyes. Oh and incidentally, the sound system and/or acoustics are not that great in this off Broadway theater which just added a certain level of annoying to the canned sound track adding insult to injury.

    Excellent!

by nmandas on 5/17/15Union Square Theatre - New York

Comparable to the humor in a gentleman's guide to love and murder, but 1/3 the price. Bought tix for the mezzanine, but they sat us on the main floor and closed the mezz, due to volume. I guess.

    So good...

by NewYork12Friends on 5/17/15Union Square Theatre - New York

39 Steps is a really fun play. We had a group of older/middle age/teens who went, and we all enjoyed it. I recommend watching the movie first, but don't be put off by it. It's pretty cheesy, but it helps to know the story. The play is hilarious!! And the fact that it's done by 4 people is amazing!

    Inventive fun!

by Margianne on 5/13/15Union Square Theatre - New York

I liked the fluid, dance-like presentation of the story, which depended so much on exquisite timing and body language. All the actors were highly accomplished and demonstrated intellectual.physical agility and a sophisticated understanding of their project. Very entertaining, but also very inventive and intriguing use of four actors in many different characters/situations.

39 Steps is Hitchcocks satirical fun.

by butch812 on 5/12/15Union Square Theatre - New York

You will laugh and laugh. These four actors are incredible. So much fun for the whole family. The area around the theater is fun too. Union Square Park and the Barnes and Noble Bookstore are must see.

Cute and nice spoof of Classic Hitchcock

by scangrl on 5/7/15Union Square Theatre - New York

You need not be a Hitchcock aficionado to recognize the spoof of his famous films. The cast is fun, engaging and aims to please. Add inventive sets and some clever gags, and half price tickets and its an afternoon well spent.

    Five Red Noses!

by dgGoes211 on 5/5/15Union Square Theatre - New York

It started off fun with the exposition by one of my favorite actors, Robert Petkoff. And it just got funnier and funnier as it went on. Brittany was wonderful in all 3 of her roles, and the clowns! I lost track of how many characters they played: all wonderfully defined. I was delighted to be there.

    Fun!!!

by Laura80 on 5/4/15Union Square Theatre - New York

We've already recommended "39 Steps" to all theatre-goers we've seen since. Much more fun that the serious "must-see" plays on our calendar. More fun than Hamlet or Grounded or lots of others we've seen this season.

    Not your usual 39 steps!

by theaterlover207 on 5/4/15Union Square Theatre - New York

This was a comedic parody of a well-known movie and tv show. It just wasn't very funny and the jokes were appropriate in the 1950s. We didn't like it much, but the gentleman beside me thought that it was a howl!
