4 INSANELY TALENTED ACTORS, 150 ROLES
100 BREAKNECK MINUTES OF SHEER THEATRICAL FUN FOR EVERYONE FROM AGES 9 TO 99
ALL MEZZANINE SEATS $39 AT ALL PERFORMANCES
“The two-time Tony® Award-winning "39 Steps" is a comedic spoof of the classic 1935 film, with only 4 "insanely talented" actors portraying more than 150 characters, sometimes changing roles in the blink of an eye.   The brilliantly madcap story follows our dashing hero Richard Hannay as he races to solve the mystery of The 39 Steps, all the while trying to clear his name!  The show’s uproarious fast-paced 100 minutes promises to leave you gasping for breath… in a good way!"
Ben Brantley of the New York Times called it “Absurdly enjoyable,”  “A perfect soufflé,” and “Theatre at its finest.” Liz Smith of the New York Post called it “The most entertaining show on Broadway, ” and Joe Dziemianowicz of the Daily News said it’s “Ingenious! A Dizzy Delight!”

    Very well done

by lilleobaby28 on 12/21/15Union Square Theatre - New York

This was a very entertaining play. My husband and I enjoyed that there were only 4 actors playing a variety of characters. Don't let the red nose in the advertisement fool you - there were no dressed up clowns in the play, just silly characters. The price was just right if you are looking for an NYC experience on a non-NYC budget!

39 steps is worth the money!

by PJRPOK on 12/19/15Union Square Theatre - New York

We really enjoyed the 39 steps. High energy performance with 4 actors playing over 100 rolls (sometimes alternating 2 rolls at the same time on stage with creative costume changes). Based on the Hitchcock movie, it is fast moving and funny. The performers do a great job. We highly recommend it.

    Great Play

by Rickfan1 on 11/17/15Union Square Theatre - New York

This was one of those plays that you will remember and I laughed my way thru it. The actors were excellent playing their dual roles and it was a great performance. The references made to Hitchcock's other films was hysterical. Bravo!!!!!

by Molipr on 11/13/15Union Square Theatre - New York

    Funny but needs better direction

by Mary1939 on 11/12/15Union Square Theatre - New York

39 Steps has a lot of potential, a fine leading man, incredible and versatile clowns and a pretty leading lady. But it runs too long as the material seems thin. There is an amateurishness to it, not quite professional level timing and mastery. The preposterousness level is just too high for me. Also the crew (and the audience) had problems with the barebones set.

A fun night at the theater

by TourGuyTTI on 11/10/15Union Square Theatre - New York

Although not your lavish Broadway production, 39 Steps is a well conceived, well produced, and very well acted play. It is a shame that the Union Square Theater, which is well past it's glory days, doesn't live up to the quality of the play.

    Loved It!

by Anonymous on 10/29/15Union Square Theatre - New York

I loved the show and the characters were amazing how they could change so quickly in between acts. We both found it funny. Only thing is we did not get red noses. Not sure why? That I was disappointed in but other than that the show was great!

    Love Comedy

by KTheatreLover on 10/24/15Union Square Theatre - New York

I saw this play when it played on B roadway. When I received a e-mail about the 39 Steps, I thought hey the price is right and I have some vacation time coming up. So I purchased a ticket and like the last time was not disappointed. Different actors of course, but just as great. Very talented group of people, what they do takes also lots of energy. For those who gave it two stars and one one star, well of course I don't agree at all, and the audience members found it just as funny as I did. I can't recommend this play too highly.

    Ingenious!

by 2frmTX on 10/19/15Union Square Theatre - New York

This was great fun! I love the movie and this was a wonderfully ingenious stage adaptation! Couldn't imagine how he could run through the countryside on stage! I enjoyed it immensely! They even included a cameo appearance of Alfred Hitchcock! It was a wonderful use of sparse set. My husband had never seen the movie and was less impressed. So I would recommend you see the movie before you go. Our balcony seats were upgraded to orchestra seats! It was great!

    Fun, entertaining, wonderful show!

by Doxyluvr on 9/28/15Union Square Theatre - New York

The show was fun from beginning to end! The theater was smaller creating a more intimate atmosphere. We loved the actors and how well they kept up with the changes of characters and scenery! The quick changes were brilliant and well done. The Hitchcock references added a fun inside joke with the audience. WE LOVED IT!
