About

311 in Concert

311 defined the 90s with a style that many bands would come to embrace – folding rap into more traditional forms like alternative rock and reggae. Their early 90s' hits "Down" and "All Mixed Up," tracks that carried their self-titled album to the No. 12 spot on The Billboard 200, introduced the world to an original sound that remains popular today. "Over the past few years, we've realized we're primarily a live band...and we're damn glad for that," said lead singer, Nick Hexum. Their fan base, dubbed the "The Hive", agree because every 311 concert is an intense, trippy and emotional ride. 311's most recent album Universal Pulse reached No. 1 on Billboard's Tastemaker Albums and Independent Albums charts.

With foresight and two decades of solid hits, 311 has turned the police code for streaking in Nebraska into an instantly recognized symbol for the meeting of ska, rap metal and jazz fusion. The band began in Omaha, Nebraska with Nick Hexum, Tim Mahoney, Chad Sexton, P-Nut and SA Martinez. The band went through several independent releases before signing with Capricorn Records in 1992. Their last album, in 2011, Universal Pulse, debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200. Since the introduction of their first album Music in 1993, 311 has released Grassroots, 311, Transistor, Soundsystem, From Chaos, Evolver, Don't Tread on Me, Uplifter and Universal Pulse. On every even-numbered year since 2000, the date 3/11 has meant the 3-11 Day Concert, when the band performs an extremely extended set. Fans who bought tickets to 3-11 Day in 2012 saw the band perform 79 songs over two days in Las Vegas. If you're looking for their 2014 album, it will be out on — you guessed it — March 11.

In the summer of 2019, 311 is touring with Dirty Heads for what they said will be a hybrid of "alternative sound and good vibes." The U.S. tour runs July 2-Aug. 20. They will be joined by pop trios Dreamers and Bikini Trill for all shows, with special guest performances by The Interrupters on all but six dates.

  • Paid to see a band that couldn’t sing

by Kimba on 7/20/25Q Casino Back Waters Stage - DubuqueRating: 1 out of 5

Went with a group specifically to see Badflower (not 311). Travelled an hour and a half, got a hotel room . . . Josh ( Singer for Badflower) couldn’t sing. Random people from the audience were brought up n stage to sing for him. We did not pay all of that money to get karaoke. Very disappointed we were not offered any compensation. Ticketmaster, you have to do better.

  • What an incredible show

by Peachy on 7/19/25Rio Rancho Events Center - Rio RanchoRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing 311 and it won't be my last! Definitely has made it in to my top 5 best concerts ever. I really appreciated that the venue was changed to Revel, we had an amazing view and they sound was outstanding. I really enjoyed the first 2 bands as well. Sitting on Saturn is a newly discovered favorite from this show.

  • Venue setup matters

by Skip on 7/17/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 3 out of 5

First of all, I have to say the music was fantastic. The lineup was on point. The bands were awesome. No criticism about the music at all. My criticism is about the venue. This is my first time at this venue and I do not know how it is typically laid out. But to put the beer and water together in the same concession and then to place them down near the stage, created a huge lines. They needed at least two more places to get liquid of any kind. In all my 45 years of going to concerts I have never seen a line so long for beer and water. A line that became part of the crowd.

  • After 30+ years, they only get better

by Geosynchronous on 7/17/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 5 out of 5

After seeing 311 dozens of times over the past 30 years in the Southeast (Atlanta & Auburn, AL), I finally got to see 311 in their hometown of Omaha (technically, it was Council Bluffs, IA - but it still counts!). I've always loved their shows because the performances, even with the improvisations, feel just like jamming out to their music in the car. Some might argue they sound even better live than they do recorded. This most recent show was in July 2025 as part of a music festival sponsored by a local radio station in Council Bluffs that included Sublime and 2 other bands, with 311 as the headliner, so it was only a 90-minute performance vs the typical 3 hours. Maybe it was because I hadn't seen 311 in a few years or the weather was perfect for an outdoor show, but seeing Nick, SA, P-Nut, Tim & Chad go all out in their hometown was nothing short of amazing! The guys had a different energy to them and they absolutely killed it! My favorite part was hearing "Omaha Stylee"with the Omaha city skyline as a backdrop - paying homage to their roots and showing a lot of love to their fans. Nick even brought his dad on-stage, further driving the feeling they were home. I plan on seeing 311 as many more times as possible, but this one will always be the show that stands out.

  • 311

311 is as good as ever, great show!¡! I remember them from the ranch bowl and they still are awesome!!!

  • A magical day in Fauxmaha

by Fatboy85338 on 7/16/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 5 out of 5

My first 311 show in Cedar Bluff/Omaha was just as amazing as I imagined. The opening acts were amazing: AnchondO brought their best with a high energy set. The Urge blew us away with their crowd enticing show and a surprise visit from Nick Hexum. Blue October was just jaw-dropping with a mixture from their catalogue which struck a bit of nostalgia for me. Sublime...just WOW! Jakob Nowell is most certainly his father's son and did an amazing job of bringing Bradley's music and the soul of Sublime to our ears. 311 was just what I'd always anticipated. Pure energy and beautiful sounds. This is a show for the ages and I can't wait to see them again with my kiddos.

  • Great Show Great Bands Great Time

by Matty Fatty 2by4 on 7/15/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 5 out of 5

This was awesome! I liked the venue. First time at this venue, not a bad set up. Sound was amazing! No a bad seat in the house. Outdoor venue, so we brought a blanket and that was perfect. The grassy ground was uneven for standing the entire time. More portable toilets than any venue I've ever been too. Very convenient in that regard. Overall we had a blast!! The fast pass to get in was the best this ever! Less an minute to get past the gate when we entered the fast pass entrance

  • Awesome show

by Putt-Putt on 7/15/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 5 out of 5

Despite the heat and humidity it was an awesome show. Had a blast. Was mainly there to see Blue October but 311 and sublime were both just as good. All three bands rocked it out. Could not have asked for a better night.

  • Great show, planning could be better

by Chris on 7/15/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 4 out of 5

The lines for the drinks were extremely long and the drinks were ridiculously expensive. The food trucks ran out of food and the "cheese steak"I got was a sprinkle of meat on a bun then filled with scrappy processed nachos cheese. And why not have 1 of the free water trailers on each side of the venue? You had 2 and then put them next to each other on the far side from where the general admission people were able to get near the stage since you gave half of the stage to the vio ticket holders. Sublime is one of my favorite bands of all time and they did an amazing job, all the bands were fantastic but the planning was seriously lacking.

  • no dedicated non alcoholic drink vendors

by AJ on 7/15/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 2 out of 5

Bands were great but venue was terrible no dedicated non alcoholic drink vendors so if you wanted to buy water it was a half hour wait in 90 degree heat

  • Venue was lacking- music was great

by Ks on 7/15/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 3 out of 5

Prior to the event, I read the guidelines on the dos and don’ts of the venue. It was indicated that I could bring an empty disposable water bottle because there would be a water refill station. I was unable to locate said station. On a hot summer day I think it’s very important that people have obvious and easy access to water. There was a back up plan for access to water. I was able to buy water, but I had to wait in a 40 minute line. This venue was not prepared.

  • too long of lines

by Your Mom on 7/15/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 3 out of 5

The food and drink lines were horrible. I was hoping to at least get water or some sort of drink at the same time I got my food. There needed to be separate places to buy water/alcohol, and taking the caps off is ridiculous. It was also quite tedious to move from one side to the other, crossing between the barrier, soundstage, and drink tent. Lastly, having a flat venue is not conducive to a festival-type setting. Not only when standing shorter people can't see, but if you want to sit and enjoy the show, you aren't able to with all of the people standing. I am only giving this 3 stars because of the bands that played.

  • Amazing show!

by CB Gen xr on 7/15/25Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park - Council BluffsRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing! All of the bands were sounded great, put on a great show and very interactive with the crowd. It is a great spot to have concerts! Cons: more drink areas needed for beer and water. They should have had water dispensers on the north and south areas. Food lines were insane!

  • Badflower/311 Waukee

by Kristy on 7/12/25Vibrant Music Hall - WaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

The opening band Sitting on Saturn was fabulous, high energy and super talented. Badflower was super great also. The venue was really nice as well. Great show!

  • Good show

by Heather on 7/12/25Vibrant Music Hall - WaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

I absolutely love the venue Vibrant Music Hall in Waukee, Iowa. The show was really good. I was not really familiar with the headliner 311 but the opening band Badflower was amazing. I could not have asked for a more fun night.

  • Great venue, Badflower and 311 were excellent.

by Don on 7/9/25Hard Rock Live Rockford - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

Venue was clean and well laid out. Very quick on changeovers. Personnel were informative and friendly. (only drawback was long merch lines) Sound was perfect. Lights and other visuals were timely and vivid. Lots of good camera coverage. (would be nice to have mirror/ camera above the turntables, keyboards or drums) Badflower was my main reason for attending. They were fun, engaging and the music was tight. Lyrics were telling a story and well heard, not lost in the mix. Many had never heard of them before and now are looking up their songs/ videos. 311 was definitely a party. They interacted with the fans very well. Their music was exact even when issues, like broken straps happened, they immediately adjusted and kept it going. Crowd was into the groove as soon as the music started and were not disappointed. Would love to see the Warning there.

  • What a show

by Hummus on 7/9/25Hard Rock Live Rockford - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

Exactly what I needed in a rock show. Smaller intimate venue, great openers and 311 need I say more. Sound was perfect and the hard rock never disappoints. Will be back for more!

  • Entertaining show

by FC on 7/9/25Hard Rock Live Rockford - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

Put on a good high energy show. Played a good mix of old and new material. Definitely worth seeing.

  • Asweome time!

The show and venue were very nice. 311 sounded just like Slayer and the pit was awesome!

  • Great venue and set up very well

by Dan M on 7/9/25Hard Rock Live Rockford - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

The venue is set up very well. All three bands sounded very good, no echo off the walls at all. Very well put together show.
