About

311 in Concert

311 defined the 90s with a style that many bands would come to embrace – folding rap into more traditional forms like alternative rock and reggae. Their early 90s' hits "Down" and "All Mixed Up," tracks that carried their self-titled album to the No. 12 spot on The Billboard 200, introduced the world to an original sound that remains popular today. "Over the past few years, we've realized we're primarily a live band...and we're damn glad for that," said lead singer, Nick Hexum. Their fan base, dubbed the "The Hive", agree because every 311 concert is an intense, trippy and emotional ride. 311's most recent album Universal Pulse reached No. 1 on Billboard's Tastemaker Albums and Independent Albums charts.

With foresight and two decades of solid hits, 311 has turned the police code for streaking in Nebraska into an instantly recognized symbol for the meeting of ska, rap metal and jazz fusion. The band began in Omaha, Nebraska with Nick Hexum, Tim Mahoney, Chad Sexton, P-Nut and SA Martinez. The band went through several independent releases before signing with Capricorn Records in 1992. Their last album, in 2011, Universal Pulse, debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200. Since the introduction of their first album Music in 1993, 311 has released Grassroots, 311, Transistor, Soundsystem, From Chaos, Evolver, Don't Tread on Me, Uplifter and Universal Pulse. On every even-numbered year since 2000, the date 3/11 has meant the 3-11 Day Concert, when the band performs an extremely extended set. Fans who bought tickets to 3-11 Day in 2012 saw the band perform 79 songs over two days in Las Vegas. If you're looking for their 2014 album, it will be out on — you guessed it — March 11.

In the summer of 2019, 311 is touring with Dirty Heads for what they said will be a hybrid of "alternative sound and good vibes." The U.S. tour runs July 2-Aug. 20. They will be joined by pop trios Dreamers and Bikini Trill for all shows, with special guest performances by The Interrupters on all but six dates.

  • Great Show

by D$ on 7/9/25Hard Rock Live Rockford - RockfordRating: 5 out of 5

1st time seeing 311 and 2nd time attending a show at the Rockford Hard Rock venue. The show was incredible, and the venue clearly prioritizes the audio experience as both shows I've seen there have been outstanding. Hopefully they can bring in more national & modern acts .

  • Very disappointing

by Dana on 7/8/25Q Casino Back Waters Stage - DubuqueRating: 2 out of 5

One band didn’t show up. Badflower, who I was so excited to see, wasn’t able to sing their own songs. They had people from the audience come up and take a shot at singing. 311 was good, but after being so disappointed my mood for the night was in the dumps.

  • Great show and venue

We had upper deck tickets to this show at the Anthem. Had a great view of the bass and the acoustics were great. Had an awesome time!

Great mix of old and new songs, beautiful video and lights on stage, they sounded great and still have so much energy for 55 year olds!

  • 311 and the Anthem = Greatness

by Angel on 7/3/25Rating: 5 out of 5

My friends and I all had a wonderful time seeing 311. I mean they sang the songs to my childhood. It was such a good show. I wouldn't hesitate to go again.

  • They still rock!

by Wanda on 7/2/25Rating: 5 out of 5

These guys still rock! Saw them at the Anthem on 6/27 and haven't stopped singing their songs in my head ever since. It was so good and nostalgic that I plan on going any time they play close enough from now on. You cannot replicate that feeling their music gives me!

  • Better Than Ever

by C-Cow on 7/1/25Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

These guys bring it night in and night out. I saw them in August 2024 and again in June 2025. The latter was in Charlotte, NC at the Skyla Credit Union Ampitheatre, an outdoor venue. It was rather hot and humid but it did not slow these guys down one bit. What a performance!

  • What a fun night!

311 and Badflower put on amazing performances. Both bands were high energy and engaged with the fans. 311’s mix of rock, reggae, and funk filled the venue with infectious energy. I can’t wait to see them again!

After all these years 311 rocks it! They played tons of their classics on Saturday at The Anthem. Please come back and play Washington DC again guys!

  • Memory Lane

by Henry on 7/1/25Rating: 5 out of 5

im 40 years old, so 311 is always a trip down memory lane for me. It reminds me of riding my bike with the boys for some reason haha. Anyway they played all the good jams from back in the day and still delivered a performance with tons of energy. Kids these days are still into their music and its a testament to their greatness.

  • TOP 3, 311 concerts Ive ever attended

by Brendan on 6/30/25The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The venue is EXACTLY what DC needed! As is the case with most 311 shows, the crowd on the floor was full of energy! Some of the upper sections were rockin too. The band sounded amazing. Being able to get so close to the front was an added bonus. My only complaint was the number of young kids between the ages of 5 and 13 was a bit much. I admire them for being fans but some of the lyrics coupled with some of the activities that take place was not kid friendly. Not to mention they took up the ENTIRE front of the staging area. The venue was Clean, well managed and easy to access. I plan to attend more performances there!

  • Throwback fun!

by Marge on 6/30/25Rating: 5 out of 5

I saw 311 this past weekend at The Anthem in DC. Holy cow it was a throwback. Those songs brought back so many middle and high school memories. I was cool back in the day, haha! They put on such a good performance too. The energy and songs were all of what I expected and more.

  • 311- as good as ever

by BJ Thomas on 6/30/25The Anthem - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

From my first 311 show in 1997 all the way to present, this group of musicians never disappoints. Absolute legends, imo, and always playing to the crowd, these guys are like a fine wine and get better with age. Additionally, my daughters and I left the show as new fans of Sitting on Saturn and Badflower. Both played excellent sets and have bright futures ahead of them. Lastly, the venue was excellent. This was my first time visiting The Anthem in DC. Super cool place and vibe. Can’t wait to see 311 again and I’ll be on the look out for the other two artists as well.
