Amazing experience
by Sunny Days on 3/13/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesI would never be the one that picks apart an actor’s performance and anyone who does ought to get up on that stage and see what it’s like to be on stage. The experience was amazing. There is nothing better than live stage performance. Cast had great chemistry. J. Terrell’s falsetto was superb. The Cell Block Six solos of Zuckerman, Andrews, Greco, Teyke and Benak really stood out and weren’t buried in the music or choreography which speaks to the talent of each actor who was a part of that number. The assemble felt like a pivotal part of each number and not just like they were supporting the main characters. The cast as a whole perfectly captured the cultural values underground jazz club vibe of the 1920’s that Chicago centers on and themes that continue today - fame-seeking and promiscuity. The interaction with the audience was well balanced and timed perfectly. Andy Chen flawlessly executed orchestral conducting along with character interactions and his performance felt fluid and natural when the characters interacted with him. Honorable mention also goes to Connor Sullivan as Billy Flynn in his excellent performance of Razzle Dazzle. Venue wise - there is something about The Pantages that sprinkles a little bit of its magic on every performance it hosts.
