About

"‘Chicago' still GLITTERS HYPNOTICALLY." - Ben Brantley, The New York Times

There's never been a better time to experience CHICAGO, Broadway's razzle-dazzle smash. This triumphant hit musical is the recipient of six Tony AwardsÂŽ, two Olivier Awards, a GrammyÂŽ and thousands of standing ovations. A sensational tale of sin, corruption and all that jazz, it's no surprise that CHICAGO has wowed audiences from Mexico City to Moscow, from Sao Paulo to South Africa. And now it's coming to your town!

If you're looking for your first Broadway musical CHICAGO has everything you could want: knockout dancing, an edge-of-your-seat story and one showstopper after another. If you loved the Academy AwardÂŽ-winning film, nothing beats the live show, and if you are already intimately acquainted with the musical, experience that sizzle again, CHICAGO always delivers.

Great performances from entire cast. Singing/dancing was great. Entire Cast, including on stage musicians coordinated well. Enjoy Fosse choreography.

    Rude Audience

by vimgraw on 3/26/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

The show was good, kind of strange that there literally was no set just the orchestra on stage. The audience was terrible. People go to the theater like they are going to the movies now. Dressed barely better than pajamas and constantly getting up. (Actually people get up less at the movies) Most of audience ran out the door during curtain call! So rude to the performers.

    Fantastic!

by JK on 3/26/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

My family of 4 saw this at the Pantages in LA recently. The whole show was incredible. Perfectly polished with stunning performances by every single actor on stage. My kids (12 & 13), who are musical theatre kids, loved the simplicity of the show in terms of the band being right on stage and the minimal sets and props. It was also fun to see the Fosse choreo, which was all gorgeously executed. Wish we could see it again!

Chicago made it Razzle Dazzle (almost)

by Theatre Gal on 3/25/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

My two cents: I was ever so excited to watch Chicago for the very first time since it’s revival back in 1996. Perhaps in the first decade, the show was truly spectacular, spectacular (I’ll never know). I loved the music, of course and I loved the talented cast but what I didn’t love was that the background for stage or the stage setting; they brought out props to use but the band was on the stage the entire time. That would’ve been OK if the stage had changed the scenery every once in a while, but it hardly ever changed! I mean, I loved the band as well; they were a central part of the show! It’s just that the only real change that took place was at the end performance, when they dropped down a gold Tinsel curtain. I felt a bit disappointed, actually, more than just a bit; I didn’t expect to be disappointed at all because I guess I was expecting something along the lines of Moulin Rouge, the musical. The fact that there wasn’t any real set design didn’t take away much from the music and the talent but didn’t add to it either. I just wished it were more exciting and with actual razzle dazzle. Unless or until the whole musical is redesigned, I think I am done. It’s quite unfortunate because I was planning to watch it again; I was expecting more. That’s my 2¢.

Absolutely amazing. I don't know why I waited so long. The cast was phenomenal too. The voices, out of this world. Can't wait to see it again.

I have seen this show 4 times....

by Sandi on 3/21/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

I admit I am a complete theater buff and will see shows I love many times, though only a few fit into this category, Chicago is one of them. I saw it twice in NYC (once with Anne Reinking) and twice now in LA and I have to say, this production seemed just a tad bit off. But don't get me wrong, it was still highly entertaining and you can never go wrong with anything Bob Fosse creates. I would still recommend this production to anyone, particularly if you are a fan of musicals...

Not a Showstopper - Boring and monotonous

by SS on 3/20/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

Was looking forward to this performance of Chicago. However, the background set never changed. It remained the same throughout the Act 1. Also, the songs were long and followed one after another. There was no intermediate dialogue to break up the songs. After a while all the dance numbers and the songs began to sound the same, because the orchestra remained in the background with no background set change, and all the dancers stayed in the same outfits - black. So it became boring. We left at intermission and did not return. This was a frustrating experience. Not a showstopper performance in any way.

    Chicago on the cheap

by Red on 3/20/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

An adequately fine show. The cast are good and perform well, they can be a little too classical theatrical in performance, which doesn't always jell well with the gritty and grimy chicago show. Stage and costume design are cheap and ineffective. It was impossible to distinguish characters during the show until their name was said. The set design was non-existent with no change from venue to venue in the performance. Sound was abysmal for Chicago at the Pantages, it was impossible to hear most performers until they were at full volume and then if there were multiple speakers/singers it became unintelligible noise. There was far too much stage sound being picked up through the microphones and played through the theatre sound system (think actors walking/dancing on the stage and only hearing their heavy steps in stage creaks/bangs, or the creaks of leather dance shoes as actors moved, or at one point the sound of a person dragging/scraping themselves across the stage). It was fine. For the prices being asked, it felt a too much like a factory work like experience.. get people in, give them an adequate, but nothing special or enjoyable experience and pack them off to get the next one. Disappointing overall.

    Disappointing

by DC on 3/20/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

While many gave this a standing O , I found it disappointing (Sunday pm 3/17) From black costumes with solid black background on a barren stage to choreography that was not very creative, the company did not seem to jell as an ensemble. Some very good vocals but overall not EXCITING. If you have seen CHICAGO productions in NYC you may understand…

This show had been on our list to see for a long time and it did not disappoint! The cast was phenomenal and the orchestra on the stage was unexpected and a wonderful touch!
