Celtic Thunder in Concert
Seeing Irish musical phenomenon Celtic Thunder in person offers more than you might expect from a typical concert. The settings and showmanship are akin to a Broadway theatrical production, with a wealth of musical talent at the center of it. The five singers who make up Celtic Thunder are all enormously gifted vocalists, and their blend of Irish folk flavors with pop is a carefully concocted brew. But you get something extra when you see them live in concert. The elaborate stage visuals that accompany Celtic Thunder's performances are an essential part of the proceedings, leading the group to capture many past productions on CD and DVD. The combination of musicality and theatricality has made the group an international sensation since their start in the late 2000s. Every tour is a unique production unto itself: from 2008's The Show to 2012's Voyage, 2013's Mythology, and now their 2018 tour, X.Ā
Celtic Thunder Background
The foresight of producer Sharon Browne first brought Celtic Thunder together. Browneās vision combines the talents of five young, world-class Irish vocalists for a project that is as much about live performance as recordings, and creating a sound that keeps traditional Irish music at its core, while opening itself up to other influencesāincluding contemporary pop/rock, spirituals, and holiday music. Ryan Kelly, Damian McGinty, Paul Byron, George Donaldson, and Keith Harkin made up the original quintet that formed in Ireland in 2007. On early albums like āCeltic Thunder: The Showā and āCeltic Thunder: Act Two,ā they established an approach that appealed to a broad cross section of music fans, and they performed concerts that brought elaborate visuals and bold theatricality into the mix. Today only Kelly and McGinty remain from the original lineup, but Celtic Thunder continues to be an international sensation, and the group's peerless vocals and unbridled showmanship remain on point.

First things first, I am not an established fan and don't own any of their music. We got a pared down stage show compared to videos available online. Signing was solid but the singers were mostly stiff and didn't seem to be having fun the majority of the time. Things were definitely better/more fun when the leads were out together singing upbeat and funny songs. Also note that the show is two 35-40 minute halves with a 20 minute intermission. Having recently gone to a Sting show where he ran though his catalog in an un interrupted 90 minutes, I would have preferred that approach for Celtic Thunder.
Loved our evening!! Will definitely see Celtic Thunder again! First time seeing Celtic Thunder in person. Their music is for all ages. Beautiful harmony, ballads, original songs, and pieces by U2 and Rod Stewart. Their a capela rendition of Amazing Grace is truly the most amazing harmony Iāve ever heard. Love their musicians, too: Irish whistle, fiddle, drums, keyboard, several guitars. Definitely get tix to this show!! Sleante
We took my 88 YO dad to the show and bought upgraded tickets so he would have a good view. The seats were good. My dad said the show was good but not as good as he was expecting - he was hoping for more of the original/older songs vs the new songs. My boyfriend and I aren't familiar with Celtic Thunder and thought it was overpriced and underwhelming vocally and from a production standpoint. That said, it was great to see other people around us enjoying the show.
Another wonderful performance by Celtic Thunder! My daughters and I just canāt get enough of their great voices, delightful personalities, and overall musical talent!! We will definitely make arrangements to see them again the next time they are fairly close by. We saw them two times during this most recent Odyssey tour!!
Celtic Thunder was amazing! I have been a fan for years but this was my first live concert to see them. It was fun, engaging, informative (bits of Irish history) and refreshing. I will definitely go see them again.
I love the music. My disappointment is the show. I had balcony seats. I thought that would be ok. They would have cameras showing closeups of the singers. But sadly there were none. Iāve enjoyed Celtic Thunder music for many years and was delighted they were coming to Evans , GA. Itās close to home and the Columbia Performing Arts theater is a wonderful venue. Also not sure they gave us there all. Maybe they were tired or ill. Who knows????
The Celtic Thunder Odyssey concert was truly one of the best concerts I've been to in a very long time! The group sounds so good live, something not all groups can do. The selection of songs was really good, old combined with new. Of course, I like the old best, because I have enjoyed it through the years, but the newer music was enjoyable as well. The band was amazing; each of the musicians looked as though he or she was truly enjoying whatever piece of music being played at the time. The guys in the group engaged with the audience, and the audience responded by participating. Such fun!! I hope they will come back at a future date.
We loved the songs and music. It was different from the last time we went to see them. Still had a great time.
The Evans Center is a perfect venue. It was just a great experience. The seats were great. The whole program was so spectacular. These guys are so talented. Their voices just so pitch perfect.
What a fun show and the venue was new and super clean!
Great Experience, cannot wait to see them again!!!
Great show. The concert was wonderful and the venue was fabulous
The lads were in great voice giving us a super concert. The venue is wonderful. This was our first time attending something there and we were very impressed. We will definitely check upcoming events.
Celtic Thunder never disappoints and this show was no exception. The singers sounded wonderful and the band was phenomenal. All in all, it was a fabulous experience.
The group was great, the backup band was great, the venue was great.
It has been a tradition since Celtic Thunder first started touring that my Grandmother and all the granddaughters go and see Celtic Thunder. Last year, we lost my cousin Megan at 23 to a heart condition. She was always the most excited to see all the guys and her favorite song was Amazing Grace, the guys sang that song, and it was like Megan was still there with us. I feel like she had the best seat in the house. These guys are a joy to watch, they have an amazing talent and it has been such a blessing watching them all these years!
Awesome talent! They are truly amazing! They entertained the audience completely and put on an incredible show. The crowd loved them! I did, too.
Seating was wonderful. Sound was great. Had great energy loved it so much.
Very talented group-singers and the band. Loved the stage setting. Always enjoy being at the Saenger. Would definitely go again if they have another North American tour.
