Show was fun, Venue is terrible
by Mike K on 11/5/23The Vogel at Count Basie Center for the Arts - Red BankWas our first time going to this theater. We had to park several blocks away which i figured would happen. It is Red Bank. Getting into the venue was not a problem. Security was efficient. They scanned our tickets on our phone and in we went. I have to say, if they dont have floor seats available DO NOT bother. The "balcony"is tiny circular tables with 4 chairs crowded together and you can barely see. Most of the people just moved the tables out of the way and put chairs up to the railing but theres not enough room for all the chairs. I spent the first half of the show only able to see 1/4 of the stage and people's heads and shoulders. Even people seated against the railing had to lean forward and adjust to be able to see. My wife complained to the manager who allowed us to move downstairs as long as it was to one of the outer chairs against the wall. She also gave us free drink vouchers. We were both able to see the entirety of the second act without having to look over other people's shoulders, around their heads, or hang over a railing. Other than that the show was fun. The performers did a great job. They sprayed blood all over people and the crowd was laughing and having a great time. Its a shame the theater itself is very basic, very old, and poorly set up. I was expecting more from Red Bank.
