Chtty Chitty Bang Bang Fun and invigorating

    by cci01 on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

I went with my 12 year old son and we both thought it was well done and held our attention. We especially liked the dance numbers at the carnival and in Vulgaria. My son liked the special effects in making the car look like it was flying.

Brought back fond memories of Chitty, with a bang!

    by SweetPea79 on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

I took my 8 year old son to watch this play and we both loved it. My favorite part was the drive to the beach. It was hilarious! I also loved how they switched up the boring waltz at the Baron's birthday party (from the movie) to a festive Samba dance from Brazil. The added spice was very nice. My son's favorite part of the film was watching the kids from the village take revenge on the bad adults in the castle. It's his favorite part of the movie, too. The only thing I had a hard time with was the musical number that the two spies performed. It was hard to understand what they were singing. It didn't feel like it brought anything to the play. Otherwise, it was wonderful. My son and I had a great time!

This was one of our favorite shows this year . Our son is 8 and loved it, watching the car fly was spectacular. We would recommend this to anyone with children. The signing was great and was fun to find ourselves humming along with the very memorable tunes. The characters were well played by the actors. The time of the show was good not to late for the kids. The special effects were awesome.

    Just Amazing!!

    by Derby64usa on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

The movie has always been a family favorite and seeing the play was wonderful. The two things that stuck our the most was the two spies and the way Chitty was lifted. We sat on the third row and our 6 year old daughter was already standing and clapping her hands before anyone else when Chitty was sent flying just at the close of the 1st act. I have to say, it was amazing.

    Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

by Attendees on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

Excellent in every way. We sat in Tier C and we thought the voices were loud enough. However, it was hard to distinguish all or most words spoken because all players were speaking in the Queen's English with heavy local English country accents. When we read the bios of ALL the players, we learned all were born and raised in the U.S.A. Why not just let them speak American English? Many of us cannot understand Queen's English unless we can see the lips of the speaker. And the speakers were talking so fast. Otherwise, it was a most enjoyable entertaining play. The venue was also great as the seating allows most everyone to see without anyone directly sitting in front of the people behind.

Don't Miss out: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

    by SteveNaz1015 on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

I went with a friend. I wasn't expecting much, having seen the movie when I was a kid. I thought it would be a basic show like any other musical, but this show was terrific. The kids in the show were especially talented. This performance rates up there with any Andrew Lloyd musical or other performance. There are added songs to the musical, and there are a few lines which are fitted to the venue / city where it is performed. Overall, OUTSTANDING!!! The adults caught the "adult jokes," and the kids didn't understand. The kids in the venue were in awe!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was great!

by PoppyM on 7/15/09Music Hall At Fair Park - Dallas

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was great! The acting was some of the best I have seen at the Dallas Summer Musicals. The use of the flying car was unbeliveable!!! I have never seen anything like it. This was as good as any of the shows that I have seen in New York or Chicago. I would recommend this show for the entire family. Our family outing included members from 68 years old down to 14 years old and everyone had a great time.

It was too loud and too long. My daughter and her friends lost interest and some of the accents were very difficult to understand.

    They ruined Chitty!

by MamaRosa on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

I was privileged to see this play at the London Palladium, starring Michael Ball, and it was spectacular. There was one dance scene that was sexually suggestive, and therefore out of place in a family-friendly play, but other than that one part, I loved it! When Chitty came to Phoenix, Arizona, I was very excited to see it again. I took my whole family. What a disappointment! The sexual innuendo has been greatly ramped up in the American Broadway touring version...making it seem as if we're watching a stripper show. We were all greatly offended by scenes, dialogue and insinuations throughout the second half of the play in particular. They've changed the storyline...and added a great deal of offensive material. The special effects were also not as good as in London, but I would have been willing to overlook that. To my dismay and disappointment, I found that the American Broadway touring version is terrible! I can't recommend it to anyone!
