I grew up loving Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and so was hesitant if the performance would live up to my memories. I was pleased. The actors did a fabulous job!

    Loved how Chitty flew!

by Chipilona on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

We took our 4 1/2 year old son to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - his first live theater experience. The expense almost kept us from going, and portions of the show were very slow and lost his attention......but there were definitely some highlights. The child snatcher was so scary that he got out of his seat and hid behind the seat in front of him to keep from being seen!! I'd say that was pretty convincing!! Also, the child actors were very good, and we are still wondering how they made the car fly. Everyday for a week before the show, we talked about it and I taught him the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang song - he loved being familiar with it when it was sung.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was Pretty Good

    by LL2009 on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

We took our daughter and her friend (7 and 8 yrs old) to see this at the ASU Gammage Auditorium. It was pretty good. The "kids on broadway" pre-show event was not so hot but the show itself was satisfying. Having seen the movie, I knew what to expect but since no one else with me had seen it, it was a bit more difficult to follow. The singing was good and the sets were neat - the flying car was AWESOME! I felt that the Gammage Stage was to small and restrictive for the players - especially what should have been really big dance numbers like Toot Sweets and the Carnival Dancers. Still, in all, a good show and we had a great time!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was super entertainment!

by Tillie on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

I enjoyed Chitty immensely, as I had never seen the movie or read the book. The relationship between the father and children was very sweet, and the acting and singing were wonderful. The story is fluffy, without an educational subplot (like the suffragette movement in Mary Poppins) but this is a fault of the book, I'd say, not the actors. The two comic vaudeville-like actors were funny, and the special effects were terrific. I loved the flying car, but kids I know loved the little paper hot air balloon taking the bad guys away! It's a long show--kids were falling asleep around us at our evening performance, but I enjoyed it nonetheless as a special treat.

Chitty was a great show, especially for the kids

by AZBob on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

We took our 9 year old and 7 year old grand daughters to see the show and they loved it. This is the type of show that can give the kids a great exposure to theatre without boring them to death!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang--childhood dream come true

    by kitkat65 on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

I grew up loving the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang soundtrack and movie (always shown at Thanksgiving time...pre-video days!). It was one of the first movies from my childhood that I introduced to my own children after it was available for purchase. They grew up loving the story and songs as much as I did. We were all impressed with the production, including my skeptical 17-yr.-old who did not really want to go! The acting was super and the songs were amazing! I was transported to 1970, watching Chitty on TV for it's annual showing, or if I was lucky, a summer movie matinee! Abslutely Amazing!

    The song that never ends

by SrgtPrice on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

The show was entertaining and worth the $15 I paid for the ticket but I have seen much better. The title song was a little much and I was unable to get it out of my head for weeks. The dogs were by far the best part of the show. Congrats to the very talented trainers and handlers!

SIt up close if you want to hear the actors

by DanielH on 7/15/09ASU Gammage - Tempe

The performance was great and it followed the film quite well. My biggest concern was that it was hard to hear the actors and actresses some of the time. The music was fantastic and the car really flies!
