The Marshall Tucker Band on Tour

Southern rock pioneers The Marshall Tucker Band have created legendary music like "Can't You See" and "Fire on the Mountain" since the '70s. While the members have changed over the years, the music that defined a generation remains the same. The rockers still energize stadiums with their iconic sound that combines rock, jazz, country, righteous guitar solos, and instrumental jam sessions. The Marshall Tucker Band hit the road in 2022 for a tour of the U.S. in celebration of 50 years of making great music. So whether you're a die-hard fan of five decades or just looking for an excellent Southern rock performance, be sure to grab tickets to see the band on their 50th Anniversary Tour. You won't be disappointed.

The Marshall Tucker Band Live in Concert

The '70s were a golden age for pop-rock music, and The Marshall Tucker Band led the charge as a new wave of Southern rock bands began to emerge. In 1972, guitarist Toy Caldwell and rhythm guitarist George McCorkle formed the six-piece in South Carolina and named the band after a blind piano tuner whose name they found inscribed on their rehearsal space key. The original lineup consisted of Caldwell, his brother Tommy Caldwell on bass, McCorkle, vocalist Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks on flute and tenor sax, and Paul Riddle on drums. The group initially gained recognition on tour with The Allman Brothers Band and found continued success thanks to their classic Southern melodies that were perfect for radio. The group's self-titled debut album was released in March 1973 and included the hit single "Can't You See," peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Marshall Tucker Band took a brief break in 1980 after the death of bassist Tommy Caldwell, but the band was revived with a new lineup and began touring again in 1983. The group mostly stuck to their musical roots, but they did take some brief detours to explore other genres with 1998's all-blues album Face Down in the Blues and the 1999 spiritual album Gospel. Overall, The Marshall Tucker Band have released over 20 studio albums and dozens of live releases, which have collectively gone multi-platinum many times. The band remains active to this day, touring throughout the United States and celebrate their 50th anniversary on tour in 2022.

    Jefferson Starship rocks!

by Healer919 on 4/30/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

Jefferson Starship rocks, they should have been the headliner, Marshall Tucker just ok. Next time headline Jefferson Starship. The venue also had poor acoustics. Left before the concert was over.

    Great Show

by Steve on 4/30/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

We had great seats on the 4th row. Starship opened the show and it was an incredible performance with all of their top hits. Really surprised us just how good they were. Marshall Tucker also put on a wonderful show. The musicianship was astounding. I really loved the heart of Doug Gray. He is in his twilight years and there is some fading of his ability to sing, but he overcame that with his warmth and showmanship. All of the band members were world class, but I have to single out Marcus Henderson, especially his solo performance on the flute. Really, really special and quite frankly hard to believe it is humanly possible to play a flute like this. I will try to go to one more of these shows while they are on tour. My wife enjoyed Starship more than Marshall Tucker Band.

Lead singer for MTB has lost his voice, doesn't sound like the same man. Jefferson Starship opening the night was 5 stars, fantastic!!

The FIRE on the Mountain has been extinguished.

by SueF on 4/30/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

Was more than disappointed in the performance. It was very evident that the band failed to recognize and play to their audience. 99% of those in attendance where from the 1970's Era who did not come to hear new songs. It was quite evident by the number of fans who was exiting halfway through the show that the Fire on the Mountain has been extinguished, which by the way they did not play. Very disappointed to say the least!!!

    Worn out

by Paula B on 4/30/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

At 76 years old, Lead Singer, Doug Gray's, voice is worn out. It was very shaky and weak. Granted, they had a concert the night before, but still....I think it's time he hang up the microphone. The musicians and backup vocals were spot on, but when you rely on the crowd to sing the chorus to "Can't you See"and "Heard it in a Love Song", it's time to retire. Unfortunately, many in the crowd left, but we stayed until the bitter end. Not worth the money. Opening Band, Jefferson Starship was better, but again, founding member, David Freiberg's, voice was hoarse and hard to hear. Lead Singer, Cathy Richardson, was very good. Worth the money.

    Pretty good show

by don b on 4/30/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

Jefferson Starship opened and was excellent. I'm not particularly a Starship fan but did follow Jefferson Airplane. They went back and played both bands hits and the music and vocals were right on. I was a big fan of Marshall Tucker and they played their 4 popular songs and several other deep cuts. Fans of them know they like to play prolonged instrumentals which they did. I think any fan would enjoy this show.

    Disappointed

by Cathe on 4/30/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

Bucket list band that just did not play to their history. We left as did many, many people. They didn’t do any of their known songs at the beginning to get the crowd revved up, it was so much instrumental. When I want to see and old band from my partying days that’s the vibe I’m paying for.

    Left early

by DG on 4/30/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

MT's band was solid, but Doug's voice is way past prime, sad to see but that's life. Enjoyed JS a bit more though. The smoke smell at Caesars was disgusting.

1 group sounded good the other not so much

by badbrad14 on 4/30/24Caesars Event Center at Caesars Southern Indiana - Elizabeth

Starship sounded right on even though no original members. MTB vocals were way off.
