Created by lead singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Christ Stein, the punk/new wave band Blondie became a phenomenon in the late 1970s by successfully breaking into mainstream pop culture —thanks in part to Harry’s insouciant, sassy vocals. Millions of fans worldwide continue to embrace the band's signature vibe — an energetic, edgy sound that's still fresh and contemporary. In concert, Blondie always serves up a stylish mix of sounds ranging from pop and reggae to rap, with a dash of retro disco and electro-pop thrown in. Now in their fourth decade of performing. Blondie has released a new album that has already generated several bestselling singles as well as an international tour.
Blondie released its first European albums in the mid-1970s, but it wasn’t until 1978 that the band got international attention with the release of Parallel Lines. During the next several years, the band released a string of hits, including “Atomic,” “Call Me” and its biggest hit, the iconic “Heart of Glass.” In 1982, Deborah Harry began to pursue a successful solo career, but the band reformed in 1987. Blondie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, the year of its 30th anniversary. That same year, it released a best-of album, Sound & Vision, followed by Panic of Girls in 2009. The band's 10th album Ghosts of Download will be released in January 2014. The new album has already garnered a popular single, “A Rose by Any Name,” and enthusiastic ticket holders got the opportunity to hear several of the band's newest singles during Blondie’s European tour in 2013. Recently, Debbie Harry delighted her millions of fans by announcing that the band will do a promotional tour for the new album in 2014 — although concert dates have not yet been announced.
Blondie sounded great! All the musicians rocked. I also really enjoyed the opening band, The Damned.
I have always wanted to see Blondie and it was an excellent show! The staff at the venue were very helpful. It was a great night!
Ushers where helpful with helping me find my seat. My Berger was very tasty. All and all it was a great night with a legendary band!
The event pavilion in Boston was clean and comfortable. Ticketing was smooth, although needing a vaccination at this late date was a bit much. Covid is pretty much over. The opening act, The Damned were just a poor man's U2, so missing the first 1/2 of their set was just fine. Blondie put on a really good show, playing their hits and some deep cuts too. The drums were a bit loud and often drowned Debbie's voice out, but other than that, I had a great time. The friendly Live Nation staff thanked the fans for coming as we all left. I liked that.
Blondie was awesome, supported by a terrific band. They put forward an excellent show with great interaction with the public, albeit a bit too short. The bad side was the sound quality, which as happened with the Damned did not allow to enjoy the singers as should be.
Band was deafening. Drowned out Blondie. Did they bother to sound check? When could hear Blondie she was pitchy. The 80's are over.
Seeing the Dammed was the main reason for going but Blondie was awesome too! I had a great time and its a nice venue to catch a concert.
I was excited to see Blondie perform as it had been a number of years since I’d last seen them live. They chose the right songs going deep into their 1970s catalogue while playing all the hits. The musicianship was excellent. The one flaw was that Debbie cannot sing consistently. She was fine on some songs but really weak on others. She needs to take a leaf out of Brian Wilson’s concerts and surround herself with some good backing singers to help carry the high notes. Until she does, I won’t be back.
Blondie put on a great show. Debbie sounded just as good live as she does on her records.
Debbie has gone way past her sell by date. Her voice is terrible, which is really sad. We were so disappointed that the show came across as such a money grab. The band was solid, the media/visuals were good, but the centerpiece that we went to see was a mere shadow of her former self/performer. The venue was great. Helpful staff and all the concessions, etc. you need.
Blondie is still a rockstar at 77, her energy is amazing and her band just as good. I’m so happy she is still performing and putting on an outstanding show.
The Pavilion is a great place to see a concert, especially on a warm, summer night. It's a smaller venue -- I think around 5000 seats, so just about everyone gets a good view of the stage. The views and surroundings along the waterfront are awesome, and with all of the new development going on in the surrounding area, I'd say it's only going to get better as new bars and restaurants open in the near future. Blondie? Pretty good show! Debra Harry *is* 77, and it showed in her voice and energy during a few songs, but hey, we knew we were going to see a "classic" 80's performer on the down ramp of a great career, so no objections. Hope I have as much energy (and looks) when I'm that age! Very glad that we decided to go see them!
So had a great time at the Blondie concert Monday night with great friends. I love seeing the old bands from my youth. Here's my issue these days at concerts (rant) I don't really mind that everyone stands up..but it's the phones high in the air blocking my view. This one girl in front of me did not miss a song with her phone in my face. I understand take a photo or two even a video of a song. But really the whole damn show. Why? Just enjoy the show. IDK maybe it's a good arm workout. I had a thought, maybe they should have a section for photos and one for no photos. Or after the 1st half hour put the phones away. Ok rant over...
I had never heard The Damned in concert and only knew one song. By the end of their performance I was a fan! They put on a very exciting, energetic and hard rocking show that I was very impressed with! Blondie came on afterwards and the crowd was on their feet the whole time! Debbie Harry, her band and the screen images behind them brought me back to what I missed in the early 1980’s. She can rock with the best of them! My husband and I went and are considered the GenX group. I saw GenZ kids rocking out to Blondie as well which shows how far reaching Blondie’s music is. She was and is a female pioneer of punk, electronic and dance/rap music. The venue was perfect! A must see show!
77 yrs old and still doing a 90+ minute set They’ve modernized some things, got a great graphic production & just played out of their minds. Super fun.
The Damned took the stage and had the audience's attention like a voodoo spell... Dave Vanian & Captain Sensible in full effect. Blondie took the stage and kept the party going AND upped the ante with ALL their hits... and a special guest, Glen Matlock of the legendary Sex Pistols!! Too much punk rock in your face! It was a sing-a-long, walk-down-memory-lane and GREAT time all rolled into one.
Wonderful show. The Damned a great opener. Cool to see Glen Matlock with Blondie and Clem Burke. The songs were magical and so were the video production values. Thanks! My daughter is a huge fan and we danced together all night.
Debbie "Blondie" Harry succinctly blended art/music/videos/animation/photos/8mm film to digital that encompassed her message to the world. Merch line wrapped around the foyer while I'll be "Damned" opened to a capacity filled room. Blondies' soundcheck was digital awesomeness. Standing Ovation from open to close with encore that started all the feels of a New Amsterdam club! This Chicka can dance, & sing the gamut... Gave big props to the"D"442 Her land Yacht brought the treasure chest & She shared eloquently.
ICONIC BAND, ICONIC SINGER IN AN ICONIC PLACE!!! AMAZING
Great show all around! Can you even say you came of age in the 70s and 80s if you can't appreciate a good guitar and drum solo? The Damned were fabulous. The drum solo was sensational and made me remember what a great thing they are when added to a concert set. Blondie was fabulous! Been a fan since day one. She sounded great and did not disappoint. Loved every minute!
