About

Created by lead singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Christ Stein, the punk/new wave band Blondie became a phenomenon in the late 1970s by successfully breaking into mainstream pop culture  —thanks in part to Harry’s insouciant, sassy vocals. Millions of fans worldwide continue to embrace the band's signature vibe — an energetic, edgy sound that's still fresh and contemporary. In concert, Blondie always serves up a stylish mix of sounds ranging from pop and reggae to rap, with a dash of retro disco and electro-pop thrown in. Now in their fourth decade of performing. Blondie has released a new album that has already generated several bestselling singles as well as an international tour.

Blondie released its first European albums in the mid-1970s, but it wasn’t until 1978 that the band got international attention with the release of Parallel Lines. During the next several years, the band released a string of hits, including “Atomic,” “Call Me” and its biggest hit, the iconic “Heart of Glass.” In 1982, Deborah Harry began to pursue a successful solo career, but the band reformed in 1987. Blondie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, the year of its 30th anniversary. That same year, it released a best-of album, Sound & Vision, followed by Panic of Girls in 2009. The band's 10th album Ghosts of Download will be released in January 2014. The new album has already garnered a popular single, “A Rose by Any Name,” and enthusiastic ticket holders got the opportunity to hear several of the band's newest singles during Blondie’s European tour in 2013. Recently, Debbie Harry delighted her millions of fans by announcing that the band will do a promotional tour for the new album in 2014 — although concert dates have not yet been announced.

Blondi & Pat Benatar were absolutely amazing

    by Sleek1952 on 7/23/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

Great show to see both 80's sensations, Pat Benatar and Blondie. The girls still look great after performing 30 years. They have great songs. It was a great evening under the stars at Wente Winery. If you haven't seen a show their during the summer concert series, you really must see. Of course, they sell their wines at the show. You can also purchase the package deal which includes dinner and a show.

Pat Benatar and Blondie a Great Show

by Vykyng on 7/23/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

I went there with the expectation that I would love Pat and enjoy Blondie. I was not disappointed in either performance, but Blondie, the 2nd performer at the show, seemed to steal the night with a much more high energy, crowd pleasing performance. Both of these performers did a great job, and you will hear all of your favorites. I was worried when Blondie did Call Me second, but it got the crowd into the show. This was my longest Wente concert ever, about 2.5 - 3.0 hours. All in all a great night.
