Excellent performance. The entire cast gave a stellar performance, and Tracy Trueblood stole the show.
Show was fantasic, the students did an amazing job. The theater seating was comfortable and all seats had a good view.
Music and reditions were great. A real kick! I would recommend this to anyone 14 orr older.
Great story, colorful costumes, energetic dancing but unfortunately not all performers could sing. Even with sitting in 3rd row could not make out the words to many songs. We had a great time anyway.
I've seen it on Broadway, and on the National Tour, and in various community theatres, but this was the best ever. I wish the show would run for weeks and weeks. Best of luck with the Kennedy Center judging. I have a feeling that you have not performed your last.
We sat in the second row. There were huge speakers near us. We could not make out one word of the songs or what they were saying. Very unfortunate. We left at intermission.
Top rate show. Entertaining and the best performance I have ever seen. The entire cast is filled with talent. My favorite character is Edna. She can sing, act and dance...especially in heels.
Great music, dance, and set design. Expressive and talented female lead. No slow or drag moments. Kept you entertained until the final curtain.
This performance by USF college students was entertaining, very professional and a joy to watch. The staging, costumes, vocals were all top notch. I was pleasantly surprised and I will go back again. The vocals were very strong and the dancing was well done. I wish more men would have been available for the ensemble parts. There was one small glitch with the microphone of the lead but her voice was so strong it wasn't missed.
I had high expectations for this production of "Hairspray" and my expectations were met. The main players as well as the ensemble showed excellence in voice and movement . Main players Raechelle Egan (Tracy Turnblad), Christopher Byrne (as Mr. Pinky), Lennox Williams (Seaweed J. Stubbs), Ryan Bernier (Edna Turnblad), and Briana Moten (as Motormouth Maybelle) were particularly memorable for their performances. The techs cannot be left out here. They were on "spot" with the lighting cues, props, scenes and costumes - excellent. Director Andy J. Frye gets two thumbs up from me.
Every member of the cast did an excellent job of acting, singing, dancing - and possessing awesome energy. I didn't know there were so many USF theater students capable of all three! I didn't expect an intermission that far into the play, but I imagine the cast needed a brief rest. Good costumes, lighting and creative scenery. My only complaint - and I heard this from others who were there, also, was the volume of the accompanying music - way too loud, almost ear-splitting. I would have brought ear plugs had I known. The theater was too small for such volume. Otherwise, a great experience!
The sow was kind of different that what I know and saw from the movie which was produced few years ago, but as I was watching the play I was singing along with all the songs and I could say that in general everyone liked it listening to other people sayings about it and just at the break between the acts, few ladies were discussing about how they use to look like back in the 60's. it was really exciting listening to them talk about themselves as the play reminded them of these old days. I also took few pictures of the play and the light effects with the whole acting came out as a good result for these pictures. All the students were amazing in that show and they were really funny, talented and made the whole play look really good. all the best.
Just amazing! If you are anywhere near the Tampa area, I suggest you stop by USF to see an incredibly talented group of students. The costumes were perfected to the 60s era.The students performances showed their pride and talent in every scene. The musical was a nice fit between the original Hairspray and the remake.A lot of great moments throughout the whole show.
Loved it. I told all my friends about it and would go again if work did not interfere.
the play was amazing and the actors were very talented ....the microphones cwere not as clear as they could have been...overall i'd see it again and other productions
Wonderful musical performance! Would definitely love to see this again.
I thought the cast, music & show was AWESOME!! We had a wonderful time!
I think this was one of the best plays I have seen in quite a while. The acting, dancing and singing were superb.
Loved the play, the humor, the singing. My 12 year old thought it was better then Annie she just seen last month. Only thing I would change - the background music, instruments were a little loud - would of liked to hear the singers a little more. Was so glad we went to it - really enjoyed it!
