I was honestly impressed by the student's performance. I thought it was being performed by the college students of UF, but to find out that it was actually high school students made it even more impressive! The sets were amazing. The costumes were to die for. Everything about this experience was super awesome!

About
Winner of eight Tony(R) Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Direction and Best Male and Female Lead to name a few, it's "Hairspray!" The year's '62 and Baltimore's Tracy Turnblad is going to do whatever it takes to dance her way onto TV's most popular show. Can a big girl with big dreams--and even bigger hair--turn the whole town around and still have time to win the boy she loves? Don't miss this dancing, romancing musical-comedy treat based on John Waters' 1988 film classic, with a book by Mark O'Donnell and two-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan and a brand-new score by five-time Oscar-nominee Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

by EmilyB1982 on 3/21/11P.K. Yonge Performing Arts Center - GainesvilleI did not realize that this was a high school production of Hairpsray until after it was over. I am even more impressed now! It was a great production...good costumes, good backdrops and great talent! I would definitely go back to see another production by this school.

by grandwiz on 3/20/11P.K. Yonge Performing Arts Center - GainesvilleIt's been a long time since I've seen such a professional play done by high school and elementary kids. This show was worth the trip to Gainesville.
