Great experience
by Gage on 3/15/22Lexington Opera House - LexingtonThis was my first legitimate musical. I enjoyed the story it told and I liked that there was ballet included. Neat little treat to get to see that as well. Definitely recommend.

The thrilling story of a young American soldier, a beautiful French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war. Featuring a score including the songs “I Got Rhythm,” “‘S Wonderful,” “But Not for Me,” “Stairway to Paradise,” “They Can’t Take That Away” and orchestral music including “Concerto in F,” “2nd Prelude,” “2nd Rhapsody” and “An American in Paris.”

Ballet was beautiful! Good music and storyline. Giving 4/5 stars for a small inappropriate scene. Bought my 7 year old and thought I had thoroughly researched the show beforehand. No mention of this artistic choice anywhere.
Seeing this live show has inspired me to reflect on the time in history in which the story is set. The set designs were like nothing I've ever seen before as the audience was drawn into the scenes. I have the feeling that Broadway has entered a new era with this classic show. I'd love to see it again.
It was wonderful . Strong singers and graceful dancers
Possible to miss some of the thematic ideas of the selflessness of living in "your own world" and the perpetuation of personal beauty in the poetics of the how and why of whom people are. Designed and played well, but some of the cabaret scenes seemed cut short.
An American in Paris was just amazing. It was a musical with ballet. A little bit of a history lesson with a love story
Most attendees seemed to thoroughly enjou this production. I thought it was good. A little long. I thought the singing could have been better. The dancing was very good and the modern comments they inserted were fun (so pay attention).
Great seats and a great performance. Beautiful theater and helpful people working there. We loved it!
Seating was fantastic as well as the beautiful theater! The show was FABULOUS! Was a wonderful way to spend a great night at the theater! The singers, dancers and stage setup was above and beyond great! Thankful we got to experience it!
Wonderful musical at Stifel Theater. Singers and dancers were great. Musical held your interest easily. Would recommend to anyone
The original An American in Paris movie from 1951 is a favorite in our family. We have seen it played in multiple theaters thorough the years, but his was the first time to see it performed live. The story line is different, but the songs largely the same. Although the story takes a different track, it is a very interesting tale. It was wonderfully done and performed. The sets, costumes, and dances were outstanding. If you are a fan or the original movie, you will love this new story as well!
Took my wife and turned out I loved it as well... Great story, saw the movie as a child and this lived up to the story...
The play.was great but distractions made it hard to watch. First, two sign language interpretors were distracting because of the gigantic spot light on 2 women. Another thing, It was freezing in the theater. There was a constant flow of cold air. And I can't forget the guy in front of me who was filming and flashing the entire time. Very distracting
We had seen "An American in Paris" in NYC in December 2015 and was excited to see the touring production. We were not disappointed at all! The entire production was as good as in New York. It is one of the most beautiful and romantic shows from sets, costumes, music, singing and of course, choreography. Kudos to the entire crew that brought "An American in Paris" to Milwaukee. I certainly hope the show returns soon - I'll be in the audience again.
The music was wonderful, who can fault George Gershwin. The dance superb. The plot. What plot? It was just a confused mess of unrelated elements. Why set Gershwin's music, he died in 1937, in post war Germany? Why have so many unrelated elements - Jewish persecution, a former soldier accidentally encountering a victim of the holocaust, a 3 way love story that logically can't be resolved and in the end everybody happy with the end. The show needs a new plot. Or in point of fact a cohesive plot.
The lead was an amaxing singer, dancer, actor. As were the other leads. All supporting cast were all extremely talented. Scenery and set were so creative. Overall was a fabulous show: great storyline, dancing, singing. A show for all to enjoy!! Highly recommend it.
The dancing & singing from the very talented actors/actresses was incredible! I didn’t realize it was a ballet of sorts, so a little too much of that, but still enjoyable
First time ever to see this story - great show, all performances were amazing.
Excellent music, ballet, and story done with humor and fantastic sets. Thoroughly enjoyed this show and highly recommend it if you love musicals or just enjoy great theater. I was able to clearly hear every word sung and spoken, which is sometimes a problem with certain shows or venues. I would see it again if it came back this way.
My wife bought us tickets to an American in Paris. Knowing it was for our anniversary I didn't state what I would rather see. I'm so glad she did though as this production went above my expectations in everything from the dance routines, scenery, comedy and demanding efforts of the cast. My only regret is that it was the last night, as I would've liked to have gone back with my teenagers to watch it again.
