“MORE THAN A BROADWAY SHOW. A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC THAT TRANSFORMED AMERICA!”
– CBS Sunday Morning
It began as one man's story… became everyone's music… and is now Broadway's musical. MOTOWN THE MUSICAL is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more. Motown shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat. Featuring classic songs such as “My Girl” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” experience the story behind the music in the record-breaking smash hit MOTOWN THE MUSICAL!
Gorgeous costumes! Great music! Interesting story line! I loved every moment of the show :-) I wanted to get on stage and dance with the characters.
It was entertaining but too long. I enjoyed the music I grew up with as a teenager.
I recommended Motown the Musical to all I knew would enjoy it!
Not only was the music fan-tabulous, but we found that we had a lot to learn about the history of Motown music and the musicians who made it happen. Sure do wish history could be taught to the music of a historic period. It is hard to recognize or acknowledge which actors/singers had the best voices—they were simply so very, very talented. If you have an opportunity to see this production, don’t hesitate........you’ll love every moment.
I thought it was just going to be groups performing on stage. It turned out to be a musical play. It was fantastic. I learned things about Berry Gordy I didn't know and how history, that I lived through, impacted the artists music and what they selected to record.
Fantastic performances it was just like the original performers were there.
Loved the set and lighting and the performances were pretty good. I believe the woman who was to play Diana Ross had a stand in that night and her stand in was a woman who looked absolutely nothing like Diana but she done well.
Yes, boogie in your seat good. The singing and dancing was right from Motown.
I enjoyed the show from beginning to end. The audience participation was a definite plus!!! All the singers were absolutely amazing. Soooooo many memories!!! This show is a must see. Well done !!!!!!!!
Good show held in a good old theater which has some history attached wit it. Located right down the street from Hitsville USS
This show was FANTASTIC. The singing, dancing and acting were exceptional. The story of how hard Barry Gordy worked and what he went through was portrayed perfectly. Would definitely see it again if had the chance. Drove over 2 hours and had to stay over night but was all worth it.
Enjoyed the show. Fisher Theatre is as beautiful as ever.
Love, Love this! This is truly the musical to see, the best... I recommend this to everyone who loves music and Motown!
This show was absolutely amazing! Diana Ross was just everything!
Educational !!! The cast and music were fantastic Beautifully presented. Thanks for the memories this music brought back. More importantly, thank you for a glimpse of the history behind this beautiful music that brought and continues to bring such joy to us!
somewhat disappointing. Would have liked more music instead of the drama of the relationship between Ross/Gordy.
music was fun and great -- performances were all wonderful -- depiction of the Motown story was great -- sound was perfect -- my seating area allowed for good view and enjoyment
The costumes, props, back drops Amazing!!!!!! Cast awesome, I felt as though I was back in time. Had the chance to sing with Diana Ross at the end of 25 year scene and I was little shy about getting up. Wish I had done it. Great show!!!!
We thought the show was wonderful. The actors and the music were exceptionally good. Wouldn't mind seeing it again.
This was my second time seeing this play. The first time was 3yrs ago on Broadway. It was awesome both times!
