About

As part of their 50th Anniversary Season, the critically acclaimed and award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company is proud to present SAM MENDES (Skyfall, American Beauty) and ROB MARSHALL’S (Into the Woods and Chicago, the films) Tony Award-winning production of CABARET.

Welcome to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles, and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd––and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through their dangerous times?

Come hear some of the most memorable songs in theatre history, including “Cabaret,” “Willkommen” and “Maybe This Time.” Leave your troubles outside – life is beautiful at CABARET, JOHN KANDER, FRED EBB and JOE MASTEROFF’s Tony-winning musical about following your heart while the world loses its way.

Worst play I have ever seen save your money and to see a play with a story line. People were actually walking out.

A magical time, funny, whimsical, and great. The cast was very believable, professional and on point.

    top notch performance

by dropdownandgive on 4/28/17Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

The cast members were all very talented, able to act, dance, sing, and play in the orchestra. Some of the actors performed multiple roles. The performance was very moving. It took you to a time and place you may not have experienced before.

Good show, but hard to understand

by Jennrater on 4/9/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

Overall, the show was good - the acting, singing, dancing, and music. I've seen Cabaret before which was helpful as the dialogue and singing were hard to understand. This is possibly because the orchestra was on stage rather than the usual location in the pit. Perhaps if I wanted to pay more for better seats it would have been easier to understand, but it may have been hard to understand no matter where I sat in the theater. The folks in front of me did not return after the intermission and I overheard them saying they could not follow the plot - most likely because they couldn't understand what was being said. Cabaret is a good show with good music and dancing, but this particular show was not as good as it could have been.

    Depressing ending

    by Scoutdad5 on 4/6/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

The performers and sets were great. The story and music were good through most of the show. The ending was depressing and sad. When the final curtain dropped my wife and I just looked at each other dejected. I prefer happier endings. I want to feel good when I leave the theater.

    Cabaret - so good!!

by TwoLLs on 4/5/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

From the first note to curtain, the emcee impressed. There was no clearer message in this show that he was the personification of Germany from decadence to full decline. And wow - did he do a fantastic job!! Please see this show, and please don't expect the movie. It is different and more powerful.

    So Good!

by micheej on 4/4/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

This is the first time I have seen Cabaret on the stage. I was stunned at the level of expertise, I thought I was either on Broadway or the West End watching this show. I would highly recommend- the cast and staging are phenomenal!

    Rushed!!

    by Lauren2985 on 4/4/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

The second half of the show was so rushed! It was fine overall, but not nearly as good as other versions of cabaret.

    Not Chicago

by Anonymous on 4/4/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

Music carries it. Does not compare to Chicago. Not bad but certainly not great.

    Pushed the sexuality too far

by jsyring on 4/2/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

Potential ticket buyers should have been warned about the excessive sexuality of the show. There were many parents there with children that should not have seen many of the scenes. Had I known the sexuality was that much over the top, I would not have bought tickets to this show.

X rated Display push the envelope Actors were hard to understand at times. When they talk they were facing each other. The singing was great but the singers never moved around they stood in one spot

    cabaret

by sloppyjoepal on 3/31/17Ohio Theatre - Columbus

wife and I went for the opening night performance.... had front row seats in mezz b, with a great view of stage and performers... having seen the movie a couple of times, we really weren't sure how the stage production would translate on stage... we were pleasantly surprised... from the staging to the performances by the actors, cabaret was pretty much of an "in your face production", and, I mean that in a good way...read a preview in the Columbus dispatch a few days before the opening night, so we knew what to expect, and realized that the stage production would be a "darker" version of the movie... kudos to the actors and actresses, as well as the production crew....

Couldn't wait for intermission to leave!

I was very disappointed with this show and would never see it again. The synopsis online and the actual musical did not line up. I couldn't wait to leave.

Wonderful cast and superb performances. The sets were very sparse but very effective and having the orchestra on the stage the whole time was great.

the main character was excellent but thought the female lead was terribly miscast.......boring stage with nothing more than a few prop changes.....Kit Kat Club should have been a lot more exciting.......
