I've seen the movie a few times, and it's one of my favorites. Guy Pearce isn't too hard to look at.
The play covered the movie pretty faithfully, although it did include a few extra songs not in the movie (most notable: MacArthur Park {Someone Left The Cake Out In The Rain...}).
I wondered how they were going to portray Priscilla (the bus is, indeed, a character in the play), and thought the way they pulled it off was inventive and spot on.
There was only one number that I thought could have been done better. In the movie, when they're driving through the desert, Felicia is in a knockout 'you can see it from space' costume, sitting in a gigantic shoe on top of the bus, Gigantic pieces of fabric are billowing out behind her as they go. Felicia is lip-synching what sounds like an Italian opera aria. In the play, she is sitting in a shoe on top of the bus, but the front of the bus is facing the stage, and there is lots of fabric draped behind her, but not flowing at all. Don't understand why they did that. Really took away from that scene. If you've never seen the movie, you wouldn't know the difference, but I sure did.
The costumes were delightful, the performers' energy was through the roof. All in all, a very enjoyable event.
