My sister, who happen to be an actress was coming to town and I wanted her to have a Broadway experience in Miami. So I've bought two tickets and we saw this play. The theather was amazing, the dacers were really good, but the was nothing else. No communication, no message, no content at all. They are dancers all the time with the great frank Sinatra's songs. So if you enjoy ballet, pls go. if you are looking for a good play with deep content don't loose your time.
Truly enjoyed this show. The music and dancing was exceptional. One of my favorite shows that I have seen!
Having Sinatra's voice with a live band was unexpected and definitely makes the show. Amazing troupe of dancers with athletic ability and stamina to perform complex routines for 80 minutes without any intermission! All in all, an incredible show for those who like Sinatra and a great show for those who might have been living under a rock all their lives and not know his songs. Would definitey see again to take in the nuances of the stories being told through the dancers!
We attended the Sunday evening performance and attended the Horse and Barrel beforehand with 4 cast members. It was disappointing that those four were not in the Sunday evening performance. But I thought the performance was great! The dancing was great. My partner thought it got a little riske toward the end, but I believe it was all part of the story or dance line. Thank you, it was an enjoyaable evening.
One of the best shows I've ever seen. Second only to a concert by Lena Horne.
ballet, tumbling, and swing combined for high energy
If you are one who appreciates ballet and interpretive dancing, this show is for you. I appreciated more of the music, and I was a little sad to find that the live band was playing along to pre-recorded singing. I was expecting some of the actors to do some singing, as it was called a "musical". The band did show off some of its talent with soloists and some instrumental numbers, such as "Take Five". If I wanted to listen to Sinatra himself sing, I would buy a CD. If you want to see some dancers enact his lyrics, this is the show for you!
Sexual innuendo was a little much....music was great.
The only disappointment was that we expected to hear people singing Sinatra songs rather than recordings, but the dancing was terrific... It's probably more of a woman's event, as my husband ducked out after a little while...
I heard about this musical last July, my husband is a huge Frank Sinatra fan and I love dancing (him not so much). I decided I would buy tickets for his Christmas gift. Could not stand the wait to order in Nov. for Lexington, I was so excited. Then I had to wait for him to open Christmas morning. We did it up in March when we went, nice suit with hat for him, new dress for me and even heels which I hate. We went out for a nice supper first and stayed at a nice hotel, our home is 90 minutes away from Lexington. We have been married 29 years so this kind of "romance" is not the norm for us anymore. We both absolutely loved the musical and had a wonderful rememberable evening. The orchestra, dancing, and acting were superb. I loved the different characters. Thank you Come Fly Away for a night to add to the " our good times we've had" discussions!
It was incredible!! The band was great and the music was superbly mixed between the track and the live band. Choreography was fantastic!!
Beautiful exoctic erotic choreography by Twyla Tharp! Part ballet-part jazz-part hip hop-part ballroom coming together on the dance floor of nightclub, street, restaurant, smokey Joe's when Sinatra's "I Did It My Way" meant doing it with such suave sophistication and style that everyone could claim "That's Life!" Some of the best sculpted bodies ever in a musical. Without saying a word they let the songs of Sinartra and their bodies tell the story of love romance and what some think is either or both but discover doing it your way often isn't the life you thought it was or would br. Still when you reach the end of the road joe all you can do is line them up and declare "That's Life.
This was the first live musical my daughters and I attended. We will absolutely watch for more it was better than we ever imagined!!
Loved that it was actually Sinatra singing with a live orchestra. The choreography was simply amazing.
EXCELLENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very much enjoyed both the live music and the dancing!
My Dad is 85 years old and loves the music of Frank Sinatra. Thought he would enjoy listening and he did. However, don't let the pictures you see of this musical fool you. I know what you are going to say....It is 2012, get with it. However, people in night clubs in the 50's and 60's did not dance around in their underwear, so I was kind of embarrased when people stripped down to there underwear. I was really embarrassed when during one tune, there were several couples in the corner in various sexual positions on tables. I could feel my face getting red, as a girl lie on a table in her nighty and underwear with hers legs wrapped around a guy while he was dry humping her. I really believe Mr. Sinatra would not approve.
Wonderful dancing! The lively and expressive performers were fantastic to watch.
I enjoyed the way they use the songs to tell the story of going out to a night club. The dancing was very good. They really made you feel their moods. I left feeling all my senses dancing and I'm still smiling. The band was great as a back drop. Great Dancing
Choreography and music was good, but, not as good as Movin' On. Plot line(s) were essentially missing. However, this might be better than contrived plot. Cast, lighting, costumes, sound were excellent. An enjoyable event. That I would recommend - especially to Sinatra fams!
