    Madagascar was awesome

by glendalee on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

My son is only 13 months and I took him because I hoped it would catch his attention with the singing and dancing and stage appearance and it met all of my expectations. He loved it, he danced the whole way and was deeply focused. View from my seat (Section - ORCH4 , Row - E, Start Seat 405, End Seat 408) was also amazing, I was skeptical because I didn't know if I would be able to see but b/c the orchestra seats also rise from bottom to top you have a great view.

    Show OK, venue problems

by Gprogeny on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

The show was merely ok, the costumes were very cute, but I really wasn't engaged in this performance. I go to a lot of shows like this and I'm usually engaged. My 11 year old child enjoyed the show. Ironically, to be in a "Music Hall" I had a hard time hearing the performers, especially song lyrics. I didn't like that ticket holders had to wait ouside on a line and were not immediately allowed into the theater.

    Madagascar Live

by Fignuton on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

First, I didn't know the show was a complete musical. Maybe the name should have been 'Madagascar The Musical'. Second, this show was basically geared towards a young age group. That should have been included in all the advertisements. But overall, it was an ok show. If my 12 yr old would have been 2 years old, she might have enjoyed it more :(

A wonderful Easter treat! Our favorite part was "I like to move it move it". All the kids were dancing and singing; it was a sight to behold. A great family event for all to enjoy.

Not recommend for child 3 or under

by tututata on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

The story line is exactly the same as the movie, there wasn't any wow effect for kids. Our 3 year old was bored and wanted to get out by intermission. And he is not the only kid react this way.

    Madagascar Live

by DeborahAC2 on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

Kids enjoyed it. Sometimes the music was louder than the actors singing, but wasn't that bad. The length was good. I had a 9 year old and a 6 year old and they both enjoyed it.

    Boring with a capital B!

by fhdoiusdr on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

The show overall lacked energy, the jokes seemed contrived and it was just a boring show. In comparison to the Lion King it was night and day.

    Madagascare Live

by cindeelou on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

It was not exactly what I expected. I feel I get just as the same quality from the local shows around my area and pay a LOT less. My son who is 7-1/2 was not over thrilled with the show either because I asked him. He said....... "It was alright"

My kids had no interest in the show at all

by MPHunter on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

I started to get a bad feeling when Radio City was only a half full with 10 minutes until show time.... not too many more people showed up before the curtain we up! I've got two sons, 3 & 5, and they love Madagascar the movie! It was a no brainer to book tickets. What a mistake - they were bored after 5 minutes, and only regained fleeting interest each time the penguins showed up. My wife and I lasted 10 minutes before the show lost us too. Radio City is big, so it probably didn't help with getting the relatively smallish crowed excited, but the show did a really poor job of kid and general crowd engagement. And what's the story with cutting to intermission just as they were about to go into the "Move-it Move-it song". NOBODY sang or danced to that song - now that is a measure of failure! A complete flop - watch out for the over-priced toys out front, but at least they will entertain your kids when they give up on the show.

    Boring

by Tattianna on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

The scenery was very poor. Actors shouting instead of talking. Looked like you were watching a television program for children, rather than a musical play. I left the theater, like many others during the intermission and do not return.

    A Disgrace!!!!

by Disgrace on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

My seven year old grandson was furious at Radio City Music Hall and so was my daughter in law and I. In my seven year olds words - THIS IS TERRIBLE! WHAT"S WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE! THEY ADVERTISED THIS FOR 1st to 4th GRADERS AND IT WAS FOR 3 AND 4 YEAR OLDS! I am shocked that Radio City would ruin their reputation with such and amateur production. He was so disgusted that he wanted to through away the spinning light we bought (which he loved before the show). He didn't want anything to do with the production and I agree. It will be a long time before I make another trip to Radio City and waste a day and a lot of money.

    Not so great...

by Andy1973 on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

Madagascar lasted about 1 and a half hours compared to the Lion King and Mary Poppins, which lasted at least 2 to 2 and a half hours. In my opinion, the best characters were, King Julien, his main sidekick, the penguins and then Gloria. Aside from the aforementioned characters, casting was not so great. They did not capture the personalities. Unfortunately, the best part was when the audience sang "i like to move it, move it!. There was no special effects like i saw in the other two plays i mentioned. I do not feel as though my money was well spent.
