About

John Mayer is a man of contradictions. He’s an international pop star, but also an authentic bluesman endorsed by some of the genre’s biggest legends (B.B. King, Eric Clapton). He's famous for dating some of the entertainment industry's most beautiful women, but dislikes the red carpet and lives on a ranch in Montana.  Mayer is known for his hushed-acoustic sound, but has collaborated with hip-hop giants Kanye West, Common, and Frank Ocean. Among the contradictions, however, exists a through line: Mayer’s prowess as a singer-songwriter and guitarist has remained a constant, earning him 7 Grammys and over 20 million album sales worldwide.  After a series of granuloma-related throat surgeries forced him to take a complete vocal break in 2012, Mayer is fully recovered and back on tour in 2013 –  fans can catch him LIVE in concert in support of his sixth studio album Paradise Valley, named after the site of his new Montana home.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Mayer took up the guitar at 13, inspired by the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Michael J. Fox’s epic guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future.  After briefly attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Mayer dropped out to pursue his passion, and quickly attracted the attention of label execs with a March 2000 appearance at South By Southwest.  His official 2001 debut Room For Squares went multi-platinum, and earned him his first Grammy – Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Your Body Is a Wonderland.”  Mayer followed up in 2003 with Heavier Things, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned him two more Grammys, including Song of the Year for “Daughters.” 2006’s Continuum, Mayer’s third album, highlighted his blues sensibilities and landed him another Grammy, this time for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Dead & Company’s summer tour runs from May 31st to July 6th.

  • Good Concert With Seating Issues at Wean Park

by JH on 10/12/25Wean Park - YoungstownRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the concert, but the lack of labeling and signage for seating made it difficult finding the appropriate seat. There definitely was some confusion around seating. Would have been nice to have some lighting near each row to be able to see where your seat was located. Also, should have had someone to direct you to the appropriate section/seat. There was one lady assisting, but it was hard for her too, since it was dark.

  • Not great veiws

by Fan on 10/8/25Wean Park - YoungstownRating: 3 out of 5

Was not thru with the lawn seats. Views were not that great The monitor they had for the lawn was to low could barely see it. Need to be higher and maybe 2 of them

  • I love you JM but for Christ's sake give continum a rest.

by Dubl on 9/30/25Wean Park - YoungstownRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great show, the band sounded amazing for not playing together since '22. But it was essentially the exact same show I saw in '22 ... With the exception of love on the weekend and something like Olivia it was literally the same show. So.. that was disappointing. But again it was great to see the band together and the sound was great.

  • Incredible Performance!

    by Laura S. 💕 on 9/30/25Wean Park - YoungstownRating: 5 out of 5

I don’t normally write reviews, and this was not my first John Mayer concert. Whoa! 🤯This was solid, tight, flawless performance by John Mayer and his band, especially considering they hadn’t all performed together in ~3 years! I enjoyed all the riffs that were played to extend some of the songs. I drove over 4.5 hours to see the show (even though he was in my home state the next night opening for Zach Bryan). I’m glad I made the drive to see a longer show where John was the headliner and at a MUCH smaller venue! I cannot wait for his next tour. 🫶🏼 About the “venue”….The only drawback was at this location (a park), they don’t typically have performances like this, so the seats were folding chairs VERY close together where the person next to me was rubbing against me, singing loudly in my ear, dripping popcorn on me, even when standing. Also if there is someone taller in front of you, then good luck trying to see. I’m not short but they were around 6’ 5”, so I couldn’t see around them even on my tip toes. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I prefer shows at actual venues with stadium or arena type seating.

  • Wonderful show!!

    by Cjm08 on 9/29/25Wean Park - YoungstownRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed the concert!! Charles Kelly, who performed right before John Mayer, was great. Loved his '80s sound. John Mayer put on a great show. Enjoyed every song and his comments in between each song were quite entertaining. Venue and food trucks were very good. Good parking areas.

  • An Awesome show!

The crowd was electric! We fully enjoyed each performer and John Mayer ROCKED the YLive amphitheater. We will definitely be back to this venue

  • always great

John Mayer always puts on a good show. The outdoor venue was great, with so many food choices! It felt intimate, even though it was outdoors.

  • Good music; lousy venue

by TaxMan on 9/29/25Wean Park - YoungstownRating: 3 out of 5

While we did not get into the venue early enough to see Clark, we did enjoy the music of Charles Kelly and John Mayer. I was unfamiliar with Charles Kelly, but I greatly enjoyed his music. I am somewhat familiar with John Mayer's music and liked what I heard, but I missed what I did. I was hoping he would play his song titled No Such Thing, but unfortunately, he did not. Well, I enjoyed the music. I can't say the same for the venue. While the acoustics were good, the sight lines were terrible. Unlike Blossom Music Center in Peninsula, OH, the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater. Does not do right by the people with lawn seats. There's no elevation beyond the fence, and the people who are not right up at the front of the lawn seat section really can't see the stage at all. I would probably not go to see another concert at this venue.

  • Not to be Missed

by SusieQZ on 9/29/25Wean Park - YoungstownRating: 5 out of 5

John Mayer has come a long way from pop high school songs. His guitar licks are stellar. We LOVED that The Clarks opened for him, but we did not understand the pairing of Charles Kelley with either of these other bands. The venue, which is NOT the YTown amphitheater that we know and love, is a field with port-a-potties, and had NO running water. We could of course play $6 for bottled water. I also would have liked to have seen more local civic groups or charities being offered the opportunity to raise money for their causes. Not sure who runs this venue in the field immediately outside of the Covelli Center, but it’d be nice if some things went back to the community, and no running water at a public event should be illegal. My 5 star review is for John Mayer & his band and The Clarks. The venue would get a 2.5-3.

  • Good concert but poor logistics

by Kern on 9/29/25Wean Park - YoungstownRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was good, but John didn’t come on stage until after 9:30, so he played less than 1.5 hours. The venue was the parking lot of Covelli Center, but nowhere was it posted or indicated that the only entrance was at Covelli Center. Once through the main entrance there was a 20 minute line to get into the reserved seating area. The only porta-john farm and food/beverage were outside of the reserved seating area, so you had to wait again to show you had tickets to get back into the seating area. Bottom line: The concert was good but short, however the venue could have been better and the site logistics were terrible.
