    Engaging Performance

by Fred on 4/21/24Sandler Center For The Performing Arts - Virginia Beach

"Further Up and Further In"brought me closer to C. S. Lewis, and to the essence of his spiritual life. Max McLean brouth a spectacular performance mixing personal correspondence and Lewis' essays and fiction, in a seamless portrayal of a man thoroughly in love with God and with all humanity. He captured Lewis' wisdom, humility, and faith in ways that create in the hearer that sense of longing and fulfillment of real joy and satisfaction that Lewis himself experienced.

What an inspiring, informative and overall great performance! We enjoyed every minute, and look forward to more in the future. (We also saw "The Screwtape Letters"in November...also amazing!)

    Comfortable, helpful polite staff

by Debbie on 4/16/24Sandler Center For The Performing Arts - Virginia Beach

Being familiar with the writings of C.S.Lewis, added to the overall inspirational experience. The stage setup and video background were excellent. It felt as though I was pulled back in time, sitting in his study. Perhaps it was the accent or acoustics, but there were times when the words were unclear to me. I would catch the end of sentences only in the height of his excitement. But being familiar, I could still follow the points he was making. The acting of character was SUPERB! A master indeed of Mr. Lewis. I would certainly see additional shows of him. Sincere appreciation.

    Excellent presentation of C.S. Lewis

by Stu on 4/16/24Sandler Center For The Performing Arts - Virginia Beach

A well done and very interesting presentation by Max McLean of C.S. Lewis. His 90 minute monologue was captivating and made you believe you were with C.S. Lewis. He presented very interesting background details in Mr. Lewis's life which lead to some of his writings. Well worth it!

    Outstanding show

by Don Babcock on 4/16/24Sandler Center For The Performing Arts - Virginia Beach

Wonderful, unapologetic, Christian and logical! Did a great job of combining CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, some of his letters, and his philosophy all in one. I wasn't sure about a one-person show, but it can together really well!

    Amazing

by Bobbie on 4/16/24Sandler Center For The Performing Arts - Virginia Beach

Max did a fantastic job of bringing C.S. Lewis to life. At times I had to remind myself that it wasn’t really Lewis on stage. His performance was both impressive and impactful. I would love to see it again!!!

The performance was high quality and thought provoking. Max McLean is an excellent performer, and his passion for the subject matter shows. We enjoyed the short Q and A at the end of the show.
