About

Erykah Badu, one of the world’s most revered singers, is widely credited as being the godmother of neo-soul. Badu’s blend of hip-hop swagger and smooth jazz draws inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan, and has earned her a total of four Grammy nominations. Pitchfork described the four-time Grammy Award-winning artist’s 1997 debut album Baduizm as an “existential anchor of the neo-soul movement.” The triple-platinum album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and lead single “On & On” won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance at the 1998 Grammy Awards. Badu’s enduring legacy was cemented on the road, where she has sung to sold-out crowds on multiple worldwide tours. The R&B legend has released five critically-acclaimed studio albums, and has been featured on hit songs by Busta Rhymes, Macy Gray and Janelle Monáe.

  • CHILL SHOW!

    by K-MAC!! on 12/2/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a damn good show, in spite of Ms Erykah nearly pulling a Lauryn Hill by taking her long sweet time hitting the stage. Once again everybody' was cool & professional, shout out to Matty at the 713 you rock!!! Thanks again another much needed $25 discount for the next killer show(Sevendust!) KEEP EM COMING!!!😎🎸

  • Gurl Bye!

by Music Lover on 12/2/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

So disappointed that Friday supposedly was better than Saturday. We attended the Saturday show and they were already sold out of the popular $50 shirt from Friday’s show where she started at 9 pm. Erykah Badu was scheduled to come on at 8 pm and then 9 pm. She didn’t come on until 10 pm. We had been at the venue since 7:15 pm anticipating the performance of a fly entertainer. She performed an almost 2 hour set with some new songs but as old schoolers we were waiting for iconic songs. Yes she sung some but how do you go to a Badu show and NOT sing the iconic theme song “Tyrone”? Then to hear she closed out with that song on Friday night when she started at a reasonable time! So, the concert just ended like goodbye Houston there was no applause or proper ending because the last song was an unfamiliar song and with 10 minutes remaining before 12 am it just ended lights came on and concert was over! Like WTH the venue said artists must be over by 12 am and must have whispered something in her ear to wrap it up. Who does that to their fans when we all spent our hard earned money in difficult times! Next time show up and show out on ALL the schedule performance days. Need a refund for Girl Gone!

  • Amazing Show BUT definitely inconsiderate

by KeKe on 12/2/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

We waited 2hrs!!!….before she came on stage. No announcements or updates about her status. DJ played and when he stopped she came on like she was on time. Smh I love some Erykah but that was very inconsiderate and disrespectful.

  • Good but the venue is chaotic

by Gabriela on 12/2/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

The actual show started one hour and 40 min after the hour set on the ticket event, wich is kinda disrespectful to the audience. Most of the people were not on time so I'm assuming is because how chaotic it's is to get there in the first place, but because is not my first time attending an event there and wasn't like that before I'm not really sure of why the delayed beginning. The show itself was good like nothing wrong with her obvs.

  • A delayed great experience

by Sean on 12/2/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

Doors opened at seven, she did not come out until 10 PM, there was no opener, so essentially for three hours we were sitting there with a half interested DJ. No one spoke a word, no one said anything, all of a sudden, right before 10 everything turns a creepy red color in the show started.

  • Erykah gotta do better

by Jae on 12/2/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 3 out of 5

I will start off by saying artists need to be more respectful for fans time! If you say the concert starts at 8 then thats what it should be. The show didnt start until 9:48pm. Erykah didnt come out until like 10pm. By the time she came on i was yawning and ready to go home. I will say she put on an amazing show with her BGV and band. She is one talented artist but i doubt i will be seeing her again live.

  • Once it started a time was had

    by PhillyJawn79 on 12/2/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

Show - great once it started. Patience is key when going to see certain artists! But from beginning to end engaged and able to sing along with some of my favorite tunes. Seating horrible - floor seating for the venue were very uncomfortable folding chairs. I understand the location is usually a standing venue on the floor, however we were packed like sardines and did not have much room to maneuver in between the rows or in the seats when trying to enjoy the show.

  • Erykah puts on a fantastic show could have been 5 star

by Annie May on 12/2/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 4 out of 5

However the 2 hour wait was very disappointing. 2 hours after scheduled showtime she emerges with no apology. I get that she is an artist with her own timing however it’s inconsiderate and a bit selfish when fans are paying top dollar to see her and arrive on time. Starting a show at damn near 10pm and you are the only act is unacceptable.

  • Dope!

by Regina on 12/1/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

This was my fifth time seeing her and she didn’t not disappoint!!!!! I love the 713 Music Hall venue as well. I can’t wait to see her live again!!!!!

  • Mama’s Gun 25 was AWESOME

by DDT on 12/1/25713 Music Hall - HoustonRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show by Ms Badu - incredibly entertaining and impressive. She’s an artist in every sense of the word, and used the stage like a canvas for her art. The backing band was so smooth, the visuals were outstanding and the entire show was well worth it.
