About

Robert Plant, frontman of legendary psychedelic rockers Led Zeppelin, continues to build the band's legacy with his impressive career as a solo artist. In over 30 shows on his 2013 tour, he electrified crowds with the sheer power and extraordinary range of his voice, making every song, from classic Led Zeppelin tunes to traditional blues standards, seem like they were written just for him. With his band, The Sensational Space Shifters, Plant tears up the concert stage, at times singing like a scream and at other times sounding like a dream. A ticket to one of his concerts is like an invitation into his home -- intimate and extraordinary at the same time.

As the lead singer of Led Zeppelin, one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time, Plant’s place in music history is already guaranteed. His band, Led Zeppelin, churned out No. 1 albums Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin IV, Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti, and the group has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As a solo artist, his album The Principle of Moments went platinum, while Now and Zen went triple platinum, selling over three million copies. Plant is a singer who is always at the top of his game. He is an innovator, a lover of music and someone who stands at the intersection where rock and roll, roots music and the blues come together. They meet right where he stands onstage, and as an incredible performer, he combines them into the uniquely musical experience he shares with audiences every day.

Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters

by RockBiscuit on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Robert Plant once again shows why he is considered one of Rocks greatest innovators. His mix of genre's of music is truly amazing. I had no idea what to expect, but knew it would be good, and Plant didn't dissapoint. Not sure if he will tour North America again with this lineup but if he does it shouldn't be missed

    Cannot handle awesomeness

by Catanova on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

The Alabama Theatre was a perfect place to host this band. Robert Plant still has it after 40+ years of making music! The rest of the band worked very well with him, and overall the sound was unbelievably great. If I could I would definitely see this group perform again!

Robert Plant, Alabama Theater, Birmingham AL, 2012

    by Crazyhorse1967 on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

I didnt understand Robert only playing 2 venues in North America, Im glad he choose Birminghaqm as one of them, the Alabama Theater is a very cool old venue for him to perform in, the acoustics are awesome, this allowed him to really show off and have some fun, his voice was spot on but not the same with out the rest of the Led Zepplin gang. It was a great concert. One more name i can add to the list of I saw that group or person in 2012.

Fun Show But Don't Expect A Zeppelin Like Set

by NowReadThis on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

I appreciate the fact that Plant isn't afraid to experiment with new sounds. This show was not for those expecting a Zeppelin like concert.

    It was different

by alaxmen on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Having Seen Plant on three (3) other occasions to include while with Led Zeppelin it was not was I was expecting. The show which was announced as "the second and final gig of the second and final leg of the first ever Sensational Space Shifters U.S. tour," should have been a clue that this was going to be a show that only Plant could to do. A show to see if he still had what it took to wow an audience and make them glad to have seen him. For the most part the performance was upbeat with music coming from all directions - A Bo Diddly version of "Who do you love" to Zeppelins "Whole Lotta Love" all done in a unique style that is Plant's signature. Yes he can still mesh with anyone and any style while bringing the show.....

Robert Plant at the Alabama Theatre

by TAGZILLA on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

This is the 9th time that I have seen Plant and it was by far the worst of his shows. This new band is just not as good as previous outfits that he has played with. The Band Of Joy concerts were much, much better. Still, it's Robert Plant, and he could do a concert full of Polish banjo standards and it would be memorable.

    Masterful

    by Acer3 on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

I have never been disappointed with a Robert Plant performance -- but this concert was an example of the musician that he has chosen to become... relaxed and ever-confident this show was both rewarding and fulfilling.

    Robert Plant is unforgettable!

    by NetNet0321 on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Robert Plant is a great musician. His voice still has it. He was so giving to the other musicians on stage. For all the years he has been in the business it is awesome to see him to be so giving and to even sing back up vocals. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been too, and I've been to a lot!

    Plant still has it

by gccgcgcgc on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

A little different concert than I was expecting, but still great. I am a big Zeppelin fan and expected a little more rock edge, but the band and Robert put on a great show. There were moments when you could hear the Zeppelin in his voice. Sitting ten rows from rock royalty was cool. The venue was fantastic except the audio from the singers was hard to understand. The band was fine, but the singers seemed garbled. Would go again!

Robert Plant is so much more than Led Zepplin

by KJPACE on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

It was a wonderful show. The audience was a mix of 1970's rockers looking for a memory and people who had transitioned into Robert's current musical expressions. It was a wonderful musical troupe and he is very generous with his cast of musicians all of whom are very talented.

Robert Plant at the Alabama Theatre

by MysticTZ on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

I had the opportunity to share this event with my teenage children. The concert was fantastic and my son and daughter were very impressed with the depth and international influence of the Shape Shifters. The Alabama Theatre was an intimate and beautiful Venue. We traveled 9 hours from Tampa, FL to attend this event and felt very lucky to have this experience as a family. The last time I saw Robert PLant was in Vancouver, BC in 1999 with the Walking into Everywhere tour and my son was 5 and daughter was 7. Truly amazing to share this with my kids:)

Robert Plant was awesome. I love the way he rearranges his old classics and makes them new. I never guessed he and Patti Griffin would sound so good together.

    Robert Plant

by PainSensation on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Incredible show! Sensational Space Shifters are best band Robert has organized over the past several years. Amazing collection of new songs by Robert and Kathy Griffith, as well as new Afro-Latin versions of Led Zep/blues songs such Whole Lotta Love/Who Do You Love. Finale of HangMan was superb--even better than the version Robert and his old band played in Nashville last year.

    Robert's Still Got It!

    by fern1961 on 7/13/11Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

This show was my present to me for my 50th birthday, which was the previous day. I pounced on this as my special celebration when the show was announced. I've been a Led Zeppelin fan since high school. This was my second Robert Plant show, the first being his tour with Allison Krause. Awesome musicians on stage with him. He sounds great. Yeah, he can't hit those high notes like he used to, but who of us can do the same things now that we did in our 20s and 30s? I was mesmerized from his opening note to his final bow. Giddy with excitement is how I would describe myself before the show and completely satisfied is how I felt walking out when it was over. The Auditorium Theatre is a fantastic venue.
