About

Robert Plant, frontman of legendary psychedelic rockers Led Zeppelin, continues to build the band's legacy with his impressive career as a solo artist. In over 30 shows on his 2013 tour, he electrified crowds with the sheer power and extraordinary range of his voice, making every song, from classic Led Zeppelin tunes to traditional blues standards, seem like they were written just for him. With his band, The Sensational Space Shifters, Plant tears up the concert stage, at times singing like a scream and at other times sounding like a dream. A ticket to one of his concerts is like an invitation into his home -- intimate and extraordinary at the same time.

As the lead singer of Led Zeppelin, one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time, Plant’s place in music history is already guaranteed. His band, Led Zeppelin, churned out No. 1 albums Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III, Led Zeppelin IV, Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti, and the group has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As a solo artist, his album The Principle of Moments went platinum, while Now and Zen went triple platinum, selling over three million copies. Plant is a singer who is always at the top of his game. He is an innovator, a lover of music and someone who stands at the intersection where rock and roll, roots music and the blues come together. They meet right where he stands onstage, and as an incredible performer, he combines them into the uniquely musical experience he shares with audiences every day.

    Heavanly

Robert truly trangresses through time. He was often confused during breaks in songs aa to which era he was in and it truly wqouldn't have mattered! The mixture of old world instruments with the spacious vibe of the dijeridoos was truly beautiful in every sense. He often clapped into the mic awakening these senses! One not to miss. It doesn't matter what songs he plays, the feeling is nothing but lovely! Go see this for your own eyes!

    Worth every minute and penny

by AlliNola on 7/20/13Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

I had no idea what to expect from this concert but I was so surprised and delighted. They did some great mixes of Led Zepplin songs and a few originals mixing indie and mid east and blue and rock. Go if you have the chance for 21/2 hours of a good time

    Wow!!!

by Bonytird on 7/20/13Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

Just an amazing performance by Robert Plant and his new band. Not only did they play old Led Zepplin songs to perfection but they also played modified versions making them different and somewhat better than the originals.

    Robert Plant Still Has It!!!!

by Anonymous on 7/20/13Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New Orleans

Robert Plant has aged like a fine wine, immensely enriching his artistic range by introducing and then weaving a variety of folk music into the legendary rock of Led Zeppelin. This project with the Sound Shifters is another success. The show was a mix of new sounds of "folk" transforming into the sounds from the roots of rock. For all of the 50-60ish audience, it was a pleasant mix that no doubt brought back those rockin memories.

Robert Plant great - acoustics not so much

    by clmjr3 on 9/17/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Robert Plant can still put on a show. It was an honor to be able to see him perform. The sound for those of us in the balcony left a lot to be desired however. You could not understand what anyone was saying in the microphone most of the time, whether singing or just talking.

    Robert Plant in Birmingham-08122012

by Ledwillfloat on 8/18/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

A legend in rock, stretches the boundries with African touches, polyrhythms, and neat reworkings of Led Zep classics. I enjoyed it, but old hippies looking for Led Zeppelin retreads will be very disappointed. Patty Griffin is always a joy, but was only onstage for about a third of the show.

    Robert Plant is AMAZING!

by michealsnana on 8/17/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

The venue was beautiful but even more beautiful was Mr. Plants love of his performance. You can tell that he truly enjoys his craft. He is a master. Beautiful to watch almost poetic in his movement. His voice is still amazing. His band rocked! The guest musician was amazing and ecclectic. I traveled from California for this man, my rock god. I screamed, I laughed, I cried, I danced and I sang. It was truly an amazing experience.

    Plant was bad!

    by Scotty04 on 8/16/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

The Robert Plant show at the Alabama Theater was bad. The warm up band may have been good if we could have heard the vocalist. The mixing was so bad that we could not hear the introduction he did with no music playing so I did not get their name. We figured that it would be fixed before Plant got onstage but no such luck. The vocals were still too low when Plant performed that we could not hear him much at all. The show was all new songs, Plant sang none of his old songs except for some re-mixes with the new bands sound which added insult to injury for those of us wanted to hear Plant sing. We did not expect a Led Zepplin concert but we did expect Plant to play some of the old tunes for our money especially since the radio hammered us with ads for the concert playing Led Zepplin not the Sensational Space Shifters.

    Underwhelmed

    by Bcorb64 on 8/16/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

concert was not at all what I expected. While the musicians were very skilled and talented, their eclectic mix of African sounds and surf music made for a difficult blend. I wanted to hear Plant, not the various people he pulled on stage with him along the way. Regardless, it was different and I enjoyed it, but I would not pay $60, some people $100+, to see him again.

Robert has Plant(ed) some groovy tunes in my head

    by 1Geo on 8/15/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

So I was in a pissy mood because I had just gotten a boxers fracture in my 4th & 5th metacarpals earlier that day but didn't have time to go to the doctor because we had to eat dinner & go to the show. Once there, I got a few whiskey drinks in me & all was well for the night. They opened with 'Fixin to Die', a great tune by old Miss. blues guitarist, Booker "Bukka" White. not sure of the order of the songs but bron-y-aur stomp & i believe four sticks, both zeppelin tunes, were played. Spoonful, a Charley Patton song was FANTASTIC!!!! Of course some Sensational Space Shifters songs were played & Gallows Pole was the last song of the night. All in all, the show was incredible!!!! Forgot all about my hand until someone bumped into it on the way out.

Plant was awesome. He appeared to be having a great time and was really into the performance, even when just singing backup to Patty. Patty, by the way, has a tremendous voice. Band was great too. Enthusiastic and distinctive.

    Not great...

by disbelieve on 8/15/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

I've seen Robert Plant many times over the past 10 years and I have to say this was the worst show yet. Could not stand the arrangements for all but one of the Led Zeppelin tunes (Friends). They just didn't sound good. I don't see the point of Patty Griffin being in this group. She was fantastic in Band of Joy but contributed nothing here. Plant's voice wasn't as strong as in the last performance and he, well, looked very tired. He's a great vocalist and I'm hoping for the next band he throws together to be better. Better arrangements on Led Zeppelin songs would be nice too. p.s. Still love Robert and that's why it got 2 stars instead of 1.

by Aurala on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Birmingham was blessed on 8/12 with the presence of Robert Plant and his Space Shifters...(this being one of only two stops in the US) He is a master of weaving varied musical genres together to produce new arrangements of his old favorites.Patty Griffin and the band provided the threads needed to weave one beautiful tapestry!

    Terrible concert

    by Jimmy0067 on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

In the radio advertisement they played Led Zeppelin songs but at the concert he played a bunch of bluegrass songs that I have never heard of. He played one LZ song that was barely recognizable. I hate I missed the closing ceremony of the Olympics for this.

    Robert Plant

by dehil on 8/14/12Alabama Theatre - Birmingham

Wife loved it, I wasn't impressed. This is not the genre' one would affiliate Robert Plant with. It seemed to me the promo let one assume there would be some Led Zeplin, as did the pricing. Afterwards, and disappointingly, he would not even sign autographs for only 25-30 people who waited over an hour for him. He had a lot of true, old fans there..I wouldn't go again for free...
